I've been listening to a lot of his works lately and I'm really liking his Polonaises.

http://soundcloud.com/dgsgr/polonaises- ... ric-chopin theres's some of my favorites. Absolutely wonderful for winding down after a long day.

Any other Chopin fans out there?

He's really good. I also enjoy classical music. :)

Yes, I love Chopin!

I have a really good Chopin pun, too.

Yes, I like Chopin. In classical music, I prefer pieces with one dominant instrument: orchestral works are a bit too complicated for my ear and end up sounding "muddy."

I like his Nocturnes Op.9. It reminds me of murder and chaos.

I have an album called "Paderewski plays Chopin" that was taken directly off an old wax cylinder or something, I highly recommend the album if you can find the non-digitally remastered version. Something about hearing the old pops and scratches of the recording just made it more cool to play.

In the meantime, there appears to be a YouTube video of Paderewski playing Chopin, which is kinda neat...

Wow! That does sound very cool; I have a huge soft spot for old recordings. For some reason the textures that old recordings produce resonate with my mind very well. I'll have to try and find that album.

Yup, I feel the same way about vintage recordings :D

Unfortunately, all I see on eMusic or iTunes is a cleaned-up digital remaster, which just doesn't have the same texture to it, like you said.

The Chopin recording is one of my two favorite classical albums, the other one is a recording of "Furtwangler conducts Beethoven" which was made around 1944-ish:

It's funny that this topic popped up, because I currently have a film about Chopin from Netflix. It's called Impromptu and stars Hugh Grant. The reviews I've read about it are mixed. Some people love its humorous and laid-back style, while other people say that it's too historically inaccurate and doesn't take itself seriously enough.
