I'm someone who doesn't mind the odd bit of black metal and/or death metal, but I can't help wondering ... isn't all black metal and death metal obscure to most people (even Morbid Angel!)
Hmmm.....I don't think it's all that obscure for those 45 and under.
Perhaps it is obscure for people in that age range in certain parts of the US and the world in general.
Still.... i'd guess that plenty of people under 45 in say, the suburbs of Dallas, Cleveland, Charlotte, etc....at least know who Morbid Angel is.
Surely most don't LIKE black/death metal....but that's another story. I don't like alot of it and I have some very negative feelings towards many (though certainly not all) of the individuals who create it.
I can seperate art from the artist though. After all....by almost all accounts...Glenn Danzig isn't a very nice guy, but he sure has an incredible voice and writes brilliant lyrics/music.
