Is anybody doing anything for this event in your area?

Nope, no events around me. I might like to plan something for next year, though.

Nothing planned here... I'll be heading home that day and it's several hours drive and just likely won't have the energy when I do get back home.

If it had been a free Sunday, the Science Musem in London woul dhave been a definite possibility. I do that at least once a year anyway.

But this Sunday I'm doing my part of a day, opening with 30+ other town-centre gardens for charity, in aid of the local hospice. We're aiming for better than £10,000 for the day.
And 400+ visitors for my garden.

It would be hard to believe, that there, in Lithuania, could be any such event. It is not good

i figure i will go to the chat.

i also plan try to bring a little autism awareness to my students. i plan to ask them to see the site: http://gettingthetruthout.org/ ...

especially as our campus is supposed to be working on critical thinking just now, I think that is very important for them.

emett, i hope your garden openhouse is a great success!

Autism is everyday, autism pride day is politics. I don't agree with the politics nor pride.

you have a point, those things can have a bad side. i guess i just like that there is a day for that, to try and show people the side they won't hear from the "cure autism now" people.

i wouldn't say i'm "proud" of my ancestors (or even of my accomplishments), so i'm not going out and buying a shirt that says ASPIE AND PROUD, because i didn't even make any effort to be AS. but i do like the idea of having a day to celebrate neurodiversity and all that. (i still can't decide whether i like the word neurodiversity, but i think i do like it because it's so deliciously PC that it's almost a parody.)

i used to hate politics but i got a little bit involved in the pro-immigrant protests lately ... politics is always disappointing, but sometimes i feel like i should do something, just because we live in a democracy and we can complain to our government and nobody puts us in jail for that. i have not been involved in politics surrounding autistic rights, and so i don't have any opinion of the political side of it yet.

not sure if this makes any sense. hope so...

Nothing in my area either. I'm not sure I would go even if there was, because there might be a lot of people.

I love the way they're using the rainbow-colored infinity symbol! I've loved that symbol ever since I first encountered it when I was about twelve; I use the user name "infinitysquared" (which is an undefined quantity, but you can weasel out of that when you encounter it in equations, if you're careful) for a lot of forums and e-mails; and I used an avatar of an infinity symbol made of a Moebius strip for a long time. (I really should've thought of using that name here. It would be more appropriate than "Callista", which is a feminization of the name of one of the moons of Jupiter; because the days of fascination with the planets and their moons are in the past for me; I like cosmology now.)

And they even got the colors of the rainbow in the correct sequence!

But then, I shouldn't expect any different from people on the spectrum... I'm too used to dealing with NTs, who would say "ooh, that's pretty" without even noticing the color sequence at all, or trying to figure out the relationships between color-mixing and the wavelengths of the light reflected from each of those colors, and why yellow+blue=green (which has a wavelength in between those of yellow and blue but red+blue=purple (which has a wavelength shorter than both of the colors that go into it).

there seem to be a lot things going on. I probably won't have time to go to the AAGW lunch, but at least I know that there are people in my area benefiting from the day. Also, I stay out of political things since wrongplanet isn't involved in political stuff.

Additive or subtractive mixing?

Red + green light and red + green paint give very different answers!

Colour is fun, and tricky.
