There was a topic a while ago in which there was a debate on whether Wrong Planet had a conservative or a liberal slant. Hopefully this topic will settle the debate.

There was already a poll earlier that provided a greater range of options.

I clicked "conservative" because I'm more to the conservative side of the topics that happen to be discussed here, but really it depends on the issue. Libertarian would be a better description of my political philosophy.

I'm liking the outcome so far.

I am the universal heretic.

Both Standard Liberal [self proclaimed, though to whom are they generous?] and Standard Conservative [self proclaimed, though what do they work to preserve?] reject me and I them - though most self identified liberals are jerkier these days.

As for the Standard Model Libertarian - if it exists - I do not fit there either.

Politics could work if there were no politicians.

whatever part of the political spectrum resides the person who merely wishes to be left alone, i am there but not there, in that i wish people would leave my government alone!

This should be subdivided. There's really three kinds of conservatives. There's the social libertarians (far-left on social issues, center-right on economic issues), the Social Darwinists / Randroids (apathetic on social issues, far-right on economic issues), and then there's your standard fare republicans (socially fascist and center-right to far-right on economic issues).

I'm sure the conservatives will come up with their own semi-disparaging subcategories for liberals. The categories will probably be rust-belt union worker-drone, pinko-commie professional / academic, and welfare momma.

Why would you group the fanatics with the main branch of their party? You just rude, or do you have some kind of evidence that I haven't seen?

If you are in the U.S. you still live in a semi-free country. You can be any "-ist" that you want to be.

I'm a Canadian. Most of us sit on the fence so much we have picket marks on our backsides.
