in-group/out-group and belonging (or not)

I wonder if the fact that I cannot feel as if I belong to a group is related to the fact that I'm pretty sure I lack the in-group/out-group dichotomy so beloved of NTs. (Seems likelier still with at least one study backing it up.)

I don't feel part of ANY group. I cannot count myself in with any group. Not humans. Not women. Not Christians. Not neurodiverse. Not residents of the same geographical area.

That's probably the result of lacking that way of perceiving the world.

Anybody else here feel the same way?

Yes. I'm in a group of one.

Yup. The neuro-diversity group sort of feels like I belong, but its a category.

I fell at ease here at WP, but I still find myself feeling out of sync with the flow (if there is a flow). I know that I misinterpret others and inadvertently post things that are irritating. But there is a level of acceptance for that that I haven't found elsewhere.

Yes. I think that I've always been an outcast by nature.

If I've ever had a sense of group identity it wouldn't last long. I find I'm always looking from the outside in. I learned to like it this way.

Yep all the time, but I find comfort in the bigger partial overlapses.

Rarely part of a group other than these days inner circle. Best case was fringe.
