With the end of 2010 commences the beginning of the second decade of the 21st century. :)

NTM I'll be 20. 1 more year until I can go barhopping with my crew... and the apocalypse 9 months after that. (And by that I am referring to the Mayan doomsday, not any demonic love child resulting from too much booze. :P)

No way; there's still my dog's birthday, my birthday and Christmas to go before I start counting down until the end of the year.
Besides, 2010 wasn't the worst year (for me); 2005 gets that prize.

My worst year was 1990. Though there are some runners up: 1999, 2009, 1989, 2010 was kind of crud, 2001 as well.

I myself am not looking forward to 2011. I am looking forward to 2012. Not because of the nonsensical apocalypse thing, but because things may actually have a chance to get better by then. But one month from now, things are still carrying on in the same way unfortunately.

Come on 2010, be over with already. I'll count down, celebrate Christmas and than count down some more. 2010 was a very crappy year for me.

2010 for me was better than 2009. I wonder what we will see in 2011?

2010 was miles better 2009 for me, so I'm pretty ambivalent about it ending. I've started counting down to Christmas though, if that counts.

I don't see what the big deal about the year changing is. Things do not suddenly change just because the digits for the year do

I won't join you in the countdown. I have a strong antipathy toward years ending in odd numbers--notice that they're called odd--and of the odd numbers, one is the worst of all. To be one year into the decade (okay, you mathematics freaks, maybe we're not really one year into the decade because the decade doesn't start when it looks like it starts, just like I waited all my life for Ha(y)ley's comet and then when it came all the astonomers had for me was a Hal(l)ey's comet that burned like a cheap bottle rocket on a wet 4th of July) and only eleven years into the century (ditto) means that neither decade nor century has had time to develop any character. All they've got is their oddity. 2010 was early but solid-looking.

Nope, that started at the beginning of 2010. You don't say 1970 was in the 1960s, do you?

That's my point, exactly. It's going to be 2011, but I will no doubt be living my life like a young Mod in 1965 London.

I just want to put the death of Pete Quaife behind me. What better day, than January 1st, 2011?
