The title says it all, there are so many brilliant Christmas tunes that everyone can enjoy, and I am not ashamed to listen to the classics made before my time. My personal favourite of them all is Fairytale of New York by The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl. What I love most in it is the Irish instruments, string instruments and the outro. I want to go to New York one day because it sounds awesome.

What does Noddy Holder think he's doing putting this at #29 when it should be #1??

I like the Wassail song which is usually played at Christmas (Good King Wenceslas)

So many choices... but the first to come to mind is Darlene Love's "Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)".

Excellent choices, DarrylZero! I love the Ventures' Christmas album. And Bob Rivers is hilarious. My personal favorite of his is, "Holidaze" (Jimmy Hendrix "Purple Haze" spoof).

Edit: the brilliance of the Ventures' Xmas stuff is the way they mash up surf music with Xmas songs. "Sleigh Ride", for instance, is arranged like "Walk, Don't Run". Awesome.

Enjoy the Dutch jibberish!

Simonono: You've made me happy. I had Fairytale of New York in mind when I clicked this thread.

I hate Fairytale of New York. Really, really hate it, partly for personal reasons but mainly because it's such a f*****g terrible song. Had to listen to our childrens' choir singing it yesterday (which was better than listening to the original, thankfully; sadly, their take on Stop the Cavalry, another atrociously ear-rending Crimbo abomination, was worse *shudders* )

My favourite Christmas carol is Adeste Fidelis / O Come All Ye Faithful. It has stupid lyrics but I've fond memories of playing it yonks ago.

In Dulce Jubilo is pretty cool:

Might as well be. I don't tend to listen to Christmas music for any 'serious' reason.

I have so many favorite Christmas songs. One song in particular that I like is Gloria by Michael W. Smith.
