I agree, i'm dreading Christmas too :(

I have a daily rigid routine and the stress of having to deviate from it at Christmas is driving me to the depths of depression! I hate the different smells and food around the house, and wish I could just take a pill and sleep til the New Year.

I'm 31 and live at home with my parents, and having to be in such close proximity with them with no escape is stifling at Christmas.

I hate the Christmas music, I can't bear crowds and bustle and other people make me uncomfortable!

I can't wait til it's all over!

My Christmas anxiety is reaching the climax of its almost unbearable crescendo. I'm having to spend these few days with my parents and siblings who have never understood how much their actions keep me in a state of panic. There are yelling kids, heavy footsteps, loud eating, and raised voices every moment that they're awake.

I can't wait for the holiday to be over.

Well the good news is, guys, is Christmas is tomorrow and after the holidays are over, you won't have to do it again until next year. :D

The buildup is rather depressing. But the day itself, its fine. Then everything starts to pick up after that.

I'm really dreading it today. I'm still not sure if I'm going to be showing up to see my family. Agh.

*** I decided to go ahead and spend it with my family and, for the first time in the longest, I actually enjoyed myself :) Merry Christmas everyone!

Christmas is actually kind of boring this year. I got my presents: science books, Doctor Who novel, cds, Sonic the hedgehog soft toy. Now I'm just hanging around my house and don't have to expect company until late afternoon.

I'm actually looking forward to watching old sci-fi movies and Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars.

Would anyone like a jelly bean? I have a candy cane full of them.

No, I love it.

My family is teeny tiny (We are having 12 for Christmas) it's the complete opposite of "Christmas Vacation". Very organized. Not crazy at all. (Despite the fact that a glass always gets broken).

No one talks loud at my gatherings, maybe it's just that I am not as sensitive to noise as some of you guys.

The only thing that I dread about it is the food. I am not into Christmas food all that much. I don't mind the socializing, I don't mind Christmas shopping, I don't even mind it when the family does get a little loud. The only thing I don't like is the food and the occasional arguments that sometimes break out.

No little kids this year either. Sometimes, someone has a little kid, but not this year, I am the youngest at the gathering. (I'm 15, but I will be 16 in a month).

ABSOLUTELY!! ! I dont even celebrate xmas, but when it's that time of the year, and I want to do some normal shopping, I get way to overwhelmed at the mall! I attempted that a few weeks ago, and the mall ended up being packed. I seriously couldnt move without bumping into people. I had to leave and had a anxiety attack in the car. 8O

It's comforting to see so many people echoing my thoughts on christmas. I'm a total grinch and I look forward to the future when I can avoid the holiday completely. Right now I still have family obligations and Im so anxious.

I cant wait until tomorrow is over.

This time of year you have to socialize to some degree with literally everyone you know.. if you don't they automatically assume you hate them.

Lets all check-in with each other and hold hands. 8O

I don't mind the lights, the traditional family food or the decorating either (though putting it all away is more depressing than doing laundry) I seem to have a knack for picking the perfect gifts for people too -- if your going to have one talent, that's not a bad one to have.

I have a little mixed feelings about Christmas. On one hand I enjoy many things about it (wrapping gifts, making cards, decorating, good food, days off to enjoy with loved ones etc.) and always crave for the happy, enjoyable time Christmas is supposed to (and used to) bring, but on the other hand I dislike or have trouble handling certain other things about Christmas, like crowded shops, loud family gatherings etc.

I used to really like Christmas. Just a few years ago Christmas was always a nice and quiet evening spent with my husband, parents and brother at my parents' house. I'd help decorate (which I love doing) and with some of the other preparations and then we'd enjoy Christmas together. After a pleasant evening I could just go back to my home nearby and relax.

For a few years now though things have been very different. My sister has kids now and wants the whole family to spend Christmas together at her house, which is quite a drive away. Since there are kids involved, and a very loud uncle, there is a lot of noise and a lot of things going on. The house is usually cold, which increases physical pains I have due to a disability I have. My brother-in-law and uncle smoke and the tobacco smell literally makes me nauseous. Having to try to socially interact with so many people at at time or keep up with what's going on socially would be very hard and draining. Some of the people who are at this Christmas gathering have not treated my husband well in the past, so he doesn't really feel like spending Christmas with them and refuses to go, yet I wouldn't enjoy going without him, because I both want to spend Christmas with him and not have to listen to my family nag about him not being there (like they do every damn time he can't/doesn't come to some family gathering). So if I'd go to this family Christmas gathering I wouldn't be able to enjoy it at all and would just feel overwhelmed, unwell, frustrated and exhausted there and would then have to drive a long way back home in the night and probably have a meltdown on the way. That's not the kind of Christmas I want. So instead, my husband and I spend Christmas alone together at home while everyone else in the family goes to my sister's house, but my husband isn't very much into Christmas, so Christmas at home is never really anything special.

I miss the old type of Christmas, the one I could enjoy and was easier for me to handle. :(
