There are endless people on the internet claiming Marty Balin was diagnosed as autistic when he was young. I have not seen him quoted on this matter. That is because it is very unlikely he was diagnosed when he was young since he was born in 1942 and autism diagnosis were very rare in the 40’s and 50’s. He played at at least one autism benefit.

Mozart was not diagnosed, that is a fact. He lived before the autism diagnoses existed.

The others in the list have been diagnosed.

Autistic musical prodigy performs with Harry Connick Jr. in Hollywood

Quote:
An autistic musical prodigy, first featured on Local 10, stole the show Sunday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood when the 10-year-old joined Harry Connick Jr. onstage to perform.

After appearing on Local 10 at the age of five, South Florida's Jacob Velazquez went viral and made national appearances on shows like "Good Morning America" and "The View."

Once dubbed "the Baby Beethoven," Jacob is now making a name for himself. He produced his first album in 2014. A year later, Taylor Swift shared a video of Velazquez with her millions of social media fans. He met the pop star at a concert soon after.

On Sunday, Velazquez not only played a piano number, but he also performed a drum solo.

It wasn't the first time that Velazquez met Connick Jr. In April, Velazquez performed on Connick Jr.'s weekday talk show.

"To me, autism doesn't mean we can't be capable of doing things," he told Connick Jr. at the time. "But it does mean that we're unique, different and c

Chief Keef is confirmed to be on the spectrum. idk if Lil B was diagnosed but he seems very autistic and he's shown support to the autistic community.

it appears Mozart had a lot of motor related quirks ~

manic disorders are also popular when describing musical / artistic geniuses. i think being occupied with images/ sounds a lot can make one's brain appear "less logical" while actually it is working according to a slightly different logic. a bit like having a developmental disability. the impact of input on the internal structuring really is a fascinating process.

The only "evidence" I can find about Chief Keef supposed Aspergers is other people speculating

Quote:
One young rapper who’s made a name for himself by spewing violent lyrics and promoting violence is Chief Keef, who, like Rhymefest, is a fellow Chicago native.

“He’s exploited,” Rhymefest says of Keef. “I think many rappers these days have afflictions, such as Asperger’s, bipolar disorder, or autism. They need advocates, but we turn it into entertainment. The media is turning autism into entertainment. When I look at Chief Keef, I clearly see someone who has autism. Look at the way his face is structured, or his insensitivity to violence. He needs an advocate. But someone put him out there and exploited that child.” “I think that a lot of rappers are lying,” he adds, before correcting himself. “They don’t lie, they tell half-truths.”

The way his face is structured??????

Same with LIl B.

Again as mentioned earlier in this thread Chief Keef was speculated to be on the spectrum by another rapper.

Eminem has lyrics in a few songs in which the protagonist describes himself as an Aspie.
Song lyrics are often autobiographical but a lot of the times the charactors in song lyrics are fictional, about another person, or about a combination of people.

I have yet to see any of these people saying they are autistic, never mind DIAGNOSED with an ASD.

There’s always me, York County, PA’s answer to Pavarotti (though I prefer not to be thought of in that way. Besides, I’m more inclined toward Sir Jon Vickers, a singer who knows how to act.)

Many musical luminaries are on the "speculated" list.

Few are on the "actually officially diagnosed list", though that population can be expected to gradually grow with time.

The autism spectrum was expanded to being a spectrum only in 1994. We are only one generation into modern autism awareness.

Always had the impression that Adam Young was actually dxd. But apparently not. Susan Boyle I believe is dxd. But that's about it.

Even current artists like Moby, and Eminem, who are thought to be, or who spout their own speculations about being autistic, but aren't actually dxd.
