I'm right-handed. I'm wondering why so many Aspies are left-handed.

a more vital question would be what percentage of lefties write with the top of their writing instrument pointed away from their left shoulder, versus pointing inwards towards their left shoulder. there have been studies regarding this, and one such study said that the "outies" tend to live on average 10 fewer years and be more accident-prone. i read this in a newspaper years ago.

That is a very acute assumption that I am yet to notice. I suspect that many sufferers of AS enjoy challenging themselves so they become ambidextrous, but this does not explain your strictly left hand observation.

I am right-handed, anyway.

I write with my left hand, but I do some other things with my right.

I was pretty much ambidextrous at one point, but my (left-handed) teacher thought it was weird that I was trying to train myself to be ambidextrous and made me pick a hand.
I picked my right lol.

I'm right-handed. I've always wanted to be learn to be ambidextrous, though. My left-handwriting is okay, but still pretty slow and awkward.

I am left-handed, but use my knife and fork right-handed. I have thought being ambidextrous would be helpful though...

Maybe a poll would be a good idea? On the General Autism Discussion section?

I'm ambidextrous in ways but write lefty. I hit a baseball righty, I shoot hand guns lefty, I shoot rifles righty, I cut things with scissors lefty and I can use a computer mouse on both sides. Its weird...i guess thats what happens when everyone around you makes you conform...gosh I hated in elementary school searching for the one pair of lefty scissors only to get beat by some idiot who thought they were regular scissors...lol

Same, except I get this really weird feeling in my left hand sometimes that I should be a lefty.

IMHO you ought to just take your left hand, grab a pen or pencil and start writing. see what happens.

I have and it still feels a little awkward. I can write lefty on a white board pretty well though.
