To those who aren't very much into cosmology, physics, or astrononomy, dark matter is the second most populous material in the universe, after dark energy(responsible for expanding the universe) and outnumbering baryonic(normal) matter. Dark Matter is invisible to us(it doesn't reflect visible light or other forms of electromagnetic radiation), but its tremendous mass keeps galaxies stable.
