I am a little puzzled at the relevance of the leanings of the sites that posted the birth certificate.

Do we realistically expect that right-leaning media would post the birth certificate? Why would any right leaning site post the birth certificate?

Unless someone can provide credible evidence to the contrary, there is legally complete evidence that he is a natural born citizen. The lack of different evidence is entirely irrelevant to the question--the short form birth certificate is legally sufficient, and requires nothing further.

Except in the minds of partisans who betray their ignorance of the law.

I suppose, in the interest of not appearing to simply dismiss the site referenced in the OP, it should be pointed out that the "story" doesn't even say what the headline says it does.

The report is the belief of this particular blogger that certain statements made by the governor of Hawaii, when run through the blogger's own personal secret decoder ring, indicate that it's possible that the governor may not know where the document is, but isn't saying so at this time.

The report is NOT a direct claim that the governor does not know the location of the document; it states that he "may have indicated" that he "might not have" the document in hand. Similarly, one could dissect the statements of, say, the director of NASA, and claim that certain statements the director made may have indicated that there is a possibility that he cannot directly prove that the Moon orbits the Earth.

Of course, the silliness of the rumormongering is much plainer when the rumor in question is so markedly stupid...

The short form birth certificate is legal.

Besides, Obama's mommy verifies she gave birth in Hawaii.

Uh, isn't his mom deceased?

.

When she was alive she said she gave birth to Obama in Hawaii. A mother ought to know where show was when she gave birth.

And parents are known to lie to benefit their children.

Documentation matters...little else.

And some times parents tell the truth. There is a legal document on file. The courts have said it is genuine and legal and that is the end of the story.

She knew all those years in advance that her son would need to falsely claim to be a natural-born citizen to run for President? And such a pointless lie it would be... the son of an American citizen is an American citizen, so even if he had been born abroad, Obama would still be eligible.

ruveyn is right: the courts have accepted the legal document provided, and that is all that is necessary. Like him or dislike him, Obama is the legitimate President of the United States until such time as he is voted out, reaches the end of his term limit, dies, or is removed from office by Congress.
