I’ve been thinking the same thing, especially today.

Blatantly abusive and manipulative behaviour is either ignored or encouraged here daily, and it's so tiring watching people act as if it's okay. This place is way too "tolerant" for the sake of saying that it's "tolerant", and I really don't care who wants to say I'm wrong or "too sensitive" at this point because 9 times out of 10 it's the people who exacerbate this crap. I've said that I'm going to leave a lot of times, but I really truly don't see much that's redeemable about this site at this point.

I wonder if some of the problem is that some of us aren’t good at recognizing abusive, manipulative behavior. Such members take the manipulative person’s word for it rather than recognize what’s actually going on and the general pattern of behavior. This may enable people to get away with stuff.

That's true, but many of us do recognise abusive, manipulative, sociopathic and even criminal behaviour.
We have evidence of it going back years.
Those people will get their just desserts.

Depending on the type or severity of whatever’s going on, it can be very triggering for survivors to observe.

I might get in trouble for this, but I think many of the remaining WP members have toxic behaviours and traits and genuinely believe this stuff is normal. It all gets treated as "normal" way too much for it to just be "We don't see it because we all have autism," at this point. Not everyone is like this, but enough people are that it becomes expected to normalize these behaviours. If people don't normalize it they're gaslight as being "too sensitive" and/or multiple people come in to defend the person misbehaving for the sake of "tolerance". If this is too blunt I don't care if it gets removed, I'm not attempting to attack the userbase, I'm just genuinely concerned at the direction I've seen this site go in the 2 or so years I've been here. The userbase has been dwindling the entire time for a reason, and it's not just because the website is "outdated" like everyone wants to assert it is.

It certainly bothers me when people use their autism as an excuse for bad behavior. It’s really not an excuse, not in this context.

I'm so irrationally annoyed about this fake news story related to my country that has been primarily spread in the U.S. (mentioned by Joe Rogan, Fox news, clips with over a million views on youtube, etc.)

I hate errors and I like to correct them. But this has probably been fed to about 50 million people or so worldwide, so reaching those people and everybody they shared it with is of course impossible

The Story is: A Norwegian woman CLAIMS to be facing prison for stating biological facts. Saying stuff like men can't be lesbians and similar. Well, it's not possible to be investigated for this according to experts on current Norwegian law. And after this blew up, the person that reported her to the police has said(knowing that it will eventually be known) that her written report to the police did not once mention "misgendering" and so on as a reason for reporting her. It's because of long-term harassment. (publicly making several mental health-related claims about a specific person over a long time)

There have even been public protests over this in Germany. Why don't major American news platforms fact-check or at least challenge people saying stuff like this before having them on?

The job placement specialist at my clubhouse and I are going to be seeing about a local programme called Sources. That organization is located in Cloverdale and they have more to offer me than she does as far as job hunting and they help out autistic people. They also have supported work options where clients can fold flyers and put letters in envelopes. I'd like to try out the supported work options if it means not working with people.

Most of this site seems to be largely abandoned. Even some of the forum features don't seem to be working properly. I have to admit I don't understand a lot of the forum posts, a lot of it seems to be word-games and Politics, but there are still some autism related posts and personally, that's probably enough for me to keep hanging around.

A house across the street from me is having an auction. People are parking in front of my yard and it's making my dogs go crazy. I can't get a moment of peace and quiet for more than five minutes.

Get a life, young Dave Davies and take a cold shower.
