My boyfriend makes a lot more money than I do - and I know he loves to buy expensive presents, but I can't afford to.
Should I tell him we should put a limit on what we spend or what do you think?

Personally, i'd be happy with a takeaway and a DVD and no presents because the holiday has nothing but bad memories for me, but he's a total romantic.

I think putting a spending limit on presents is a good idea.

I've tried putting spending limits on these holidays but my husband exceeds that every time. I just let him do whatever he wants to do and do what I can do.

I just don't want him to get offended if I can't afford such things?
Even as I type that it feels ridiculous - I know he full well wouldn't take any offence.
But when I go out to buy something that's all I think, that he'll think I don't love him.

Just put your heart into it and go for involved/flattering over expensive. As you suggest it I doubt he's expecting baseball season passes or anything like that from you.

agreed. Additionally, it depends on the person. Some people will be disapointed no matter what.

I don't think you need to put a spending limit on things if he earns more - let him spend a lot on you as it probably makes HIM feel good to be buying you these things :D

From what I have read you say about him, I can guarantee you he won't care that you're not spending as much so don't worry

Also little things can count more. maybe make him a card or something (obviously you know yourself better than I do whether that's something he'd like or not, but as an example)

So yeah don't be bothered by how much or how little you can spend. He won't care about the money

Yeah I told him about what I thought about it, and he just laughed and told me it was cute I worry about that and that he's going to spoil me no matter what and all he wants is that I bake him a cake
SO, i'm going to make the best cake I ever made. 8)

I'm actually with Grisha on this - I'm out for delfia right now :) . That might change one of these days but, not in the foreseeable future and yes, as an aspie quite possibly never.

Well...right but, any dollar your spending on either yourself or other people makes the economy more robust - hence my saying that Santa Claus, Macy's, and the Gipper would likely frown on that decision .
