Sooo...I know obsession come in all kinds of shapes and sizes.

I know some people can become obsessive over a single book and read it over and over and over again.

But does anyone become obsessive over one character in a book or television show?

I mean rewatching your favorite scene with them over and over again. I don't want to know the Voice actor or actor, just want to know the character and will look up questions about the character, look up about the character, and even outright design my own characters in my novel based on that single character at that one time I am obsessing.

Then my obsession fades. It isn't love or attraction. Simply the character intrigues me and I study ever aspect I can, until I move unto the next single obsession.

Which comes to the second part of the question:

Obsession can some in singles and then fade? right?

Yes it can. We have an attention to detail which can take the form of singling out something specific. With me it was obsessing about Sagittarius when I did astronomy. I haven't even bothered to take my telescope out at night until Saturn comes out a bit earlier.
Most of the time it's a single character in a TV show or movie that I sort of mimic unintentionally.

Yes I become very attached to characters. I use there names for screen names, create revamped fantasy worlds where that character is the main focus. Lots of stuff.

I tend to be attracted to bad guys or the lonely misunderstood characters.

Characters like Sepheroth in FF7, Pro Wrestler Raven, Asher from the Anita Blake book Series and Edward in the same series.

I am rarely attracted to hero's unless they are really cool, like Jackie Chan :)

I guess sometimes making my own character with some of my obsession bleeding in, is easier to not annoy people with. Because it sounds like any normal idea. They don't realize an idea was built over a few days of watching and reading just a single paragraph of a character of your favorite scene of that character.

Yes, I do obsess over characters, that character always tends to be relevant in some why to my subject obsessions.
Ages ago I used to have an obsession with music stereotypes, emo being my most obsessed over. And I used to watch Hollyoaks just because of the character "Newt" because he was an emo and I only enjoyed Hollyoaks when he was in an episode, sometimes I watched the same one on youtube.
So now some characters in cartoons and stuff I get fixated on watching because they're relevant to my interests, for example I watch "The penguins of madagascar" and like that cartoon anyway, but all my favourite episodes have Mason and Phil in them.

Yeah at current my obsession really is super powers and I have been watching a single character from a show who has an ability that I think is like super neat. So I must know everything and watch everything this character does, because he will help me learn super powers. <---please do not ask my brain to explain its processes, it just is the way it is. Which is slow, dumb, and a bit awkward in firing up its neuron thrusters...lol

I can understand that. I tend to get locked in on a particular passage or scene, but I can understand how you might focus on a character instead.

I was really obsessed with Austin Powers during my first years here at WP. I used to watch the movies over and over again. Than I was obsessed with Sid from Flushed Away during some darker months. I watched Flushed Away over again for a while.
