אדם בליעל איש און הולך עקשות פה׃
איך בין נעבעכדיק ער נאָר אַנויד מיר ווען ער קוועסטשאַנד מיין תורה

but seriously its hard to be nice all the time.
I think the Hebrew scripture are constantly misused, misread, Misinterperated when read as an "Old Testament"
I think we should hide all the copies from the christians.

anyway now I have repented of my quick anger and only have love for all men in my heart.

I am no scholar here, but I cannot see how/why there would even need to be a choice between the two.

Not so much choice as that different segments may be of use or interest toward different objectives.

Nobody blames. Moses, Jesus, Jerome, even I [yes!] have been found falling into what could be seen as less than gracious speech or action when faced with certain ones [often it IS the certain ones]

Hiding the Tanakh - apparently it has not really worked for the Zuni [or am I thinking of the Hopi? But Whorf makes Zuni seem more likely] and Winnebago.

But in any case, it is too late. The cat is out of the bag. Too much embedded in the NT [if you shut down the OT title, what do we do?], and if you eliminate the source there is no help for misquoted or misused evidence. And too many copies of too many versions, too many quotes, too many novels of varying quality expanding certain accounts.

Sorry, Pandora.

Mind you, it would not skin my teeth or wilt my smile if you got a permanent injunction against certain ones building theological cloud castles on Hebrew scripture without the imprimatur of some central rabbinical board. One gets tired of those who say they reject the Papist stance on tradition and proceed to theorize with six verses and a whole package of their own tradition.

It is easy to see why Christians would make that choice.
If you are not living Kosher why read Leviticus or Deuteronomy
If Jewish identity is not important why read Exodus or most of Genesis.

and since you are apocolyptic the Prophets are of prime import.
I am going to follow with a break down of where the Torah is quoted in christian scripture.

Some who count as Nicene Christians spend almost more time in the Hebrew scriptutres than the Greek. Not so much Leviticus, though some will pick at it, but for some the REAL scriptures is Proverbs and Paul.

It only took suffering about a half-century of that to finally drive me toward Torah.

I can see that. Me, I learned from my father how to shut my ears and from my first ten years of education how to do my own thinking. Even so, I walk away quietly.
