Cherry blossoms, for me. Seeing tulip leaves poke up - my mother would plant a tulip bed every year. Feeling alive again after dragging through the winter.

Yours?

Warmer weather, longer hours of sunlight, hearing birds sing again, and of course the flowers and plants popping up.

I can't wait for spring this year. This has been a long winter.

Melting snow, temperatures above 50, and birds returning.

I love walking home after lectures, and realising it's warm enough to sit around in the park reading :D

Longer sunlight hours and generally the fact that isn't effing cold anymore.

Probably the smell. I love the smell of the seasons, even winter.

Maryland has a succession of flowering trees, redbuds are among the first...all in all it makes up nicely for missing out on Vermont in the fall.

I live in zone 5a and I can't get a Dogwod tree to live here. The two each acquired anthracnose and croaked. They were local grown too.
We have family a little south (zone5b) and these beautiful Dogwoods are everywhere in sight- even the Red Dogwood.

I'd bet this is nice there in Maryland. :)

Describe the smell please! How does spring smell to you? We don't really have seasons where I live so I'm curious.

Frogspawn in my pond. 16th of April last year and I've already spotted frogs this year so it should be soon.

"Soft" sunlight. Normally our sunlight is harsh and blue/white, but in Spring it's soft and yellowish...at least for a few days. We're having one of those days right now.

Birds singing.
The general improvement in the colours (plants/trees) and light.
This is an odd one and not really 'nature' related! But, people who own scooters seem to start using them again in spring, and the scooter sound reminds me that summer is not that far away!
Other people, and my own mood improves, (plus there's the lack of moaning about how bitterly cold and 'dark' it is!).
Sunlight 'catching'.
The air feels 'crisper' (and more forgiving!).

(It's almost time to stop having to wear a coat, I love spring!)
