Thank you for being concerned. I learnt that they were back home in Qatar a few days prior earlier on today.

Kiwi resides in an area that is yet to regain electricity, but has not been severely damaged by the quake.

hey thanks all for your concern :)

I'm ok my family is ok :)

we are very lucky.

I only have carpet burns on the knees, dad has scraped/bruised knees, yeah I was in the kitchen when it struck, my sister was over for lunch with her children and dog, we were jolted to the ground, and soon hugged under the doorway waiting the long seconds and minutes.

All of my family was together, we were lucky, my father was out, but soon got in touch, my brotherinlaw was out, he tried driving too us, but because of standstill traffic, he walked over cracks to us. I greeted him with wine :)

arh, so most of the family are moving to the country side for power and water, I have power now, but no water, my sisters house is still without power and water.

I am going to see a few friends tomorrow 8)

There are a few petrol stations working out of town, to the west of central christchurch, should be off there in the morning. lucky I have some diesel left, but the light is on.

there is lots of liquefaction around, lucky its not in my street, people are supporting their neighbours its nice.

Hope other WP members in Christchurch are safe :) thanks for the concern again

i know someone who goes on about H.A.A.R.P and "chem trails" and agenda 21 and and the illuminati and the masons and the rockerfellas and the bilderbergs and all sorts of nonsense, and yet he is studying to be a lawyer. the world is a strange place.

anyway, it looks very severe for christchurch. the landscape has been changed and i think they will have to level most of the city and start again.

Some of the stories..a man trapped in rubble has both legs amputated above the knee by a Doctor with a hacksaw and a leatherman to get him out before he dies. A woman lies in the rubble holding the hand of her dead brother waiting to be dug out. A lady is flattened by a giant block of concrete while the baby she is holding lives, but injured. A Dentist performs CPR on a 12 year old boy who dies in his arms. People alive in the rubble texting for help while the building burns. I saw an image of a man dieing in the street with his wife holding his hand crouched over him unable to do anything.
On TV I saw a man saying his wife is under the CTV building (building pancaked) and he doesn't know her fate ..what did he tell his kids when they asked where Mummy was? "Mummy's still at work". He rides his bicycle around the streets hoping by some miracle he might find her somewhere.
