Some might say this goes in L&D, but it's better suited here.
When it comes to socializing, there are four (oversimplified) categories that relate to the title: Genuinely genuine, genuinely superficial, superficially genuine, and superficially superficial.

Genuinely genuine are people that mean what they say and follow through with it. Most people think they are this category, but very few are. These people are good hearted, but they aren't pushovers, which brings me to the next category.

Superficially genuine people are very common (at least to me) and although they have good hearts, they don't know what to do with them. Usually these people lack an identity or a direction.

Genuinely superficial people are the snakes and businessmen of the world. Their whole identity is superficial, so they have a game to play, and they won't stop the game until they feel like they have won. Political junkies are another example. Any troll would be here as well.

Superficially superficial people are usually attracted like magnets to the extreme cases of genuine superficiality. These are the trashy high school skanks and the hipster nice guy types, who hate each other because they are both north magnets.

We are all a part of these four categories at times, but some are more than others.
