I read that if you are training a parrot to be a "snuggly bird" that cuddles with you like a dog or a cat would, and they misbehave such as biting too hard or being too rough, scolding it by saying "No!" will not work because the "n" is a comfort sound to them. Instead you have to try and imitate the sound of a game show buzzer. "EHHH!!"

Thomas the train was not supposed to be the star of the series. He was an unremarkable engine, who just happened to be the Number One engine. The author balked at the publisher's requests for there to be more Thomas stories and less stories about James and Gordon and the others. Originally, all the engines were supposed to have equal book time. The publishers eventually won out and Thomas became the star.

Really? Ugh, those names are terrible. So glad he changed them.

What many pseudo experts with psychology who say things like "it's just in your head" or "just get over it" don't know is that having a mental disease changes the structure of your brain. The brain is an organ and like any other organ it can get sick so if you have mental health issues it really changes and it's not just in your thoughts.

Ever wonder where the Lego toys got their name? It's a contraction of "leg godt," meaning "play well" in Danish. It has a double meaning, since "Lego" can also be interpreted as "I put together" or "I assemble" in Latin.

There are some pretty fascinating breeds of spiders that other people don't seem to know anything about because they're too busy jumping screaming and saying how horrible and evil spiders are.

Like the wolf spider. It does not spin a web, but stalks and hunts its prey, like a wolf. The mother carries her egg sac with her, attached to her body, and when the bay spiders hatch she lets them ride on her back. They are not aggressive spiders, but you should not handle them because they may bite. They may be mistaken for the more dangerous brown recluse spider. Go on wiki about the latter and you'll be treated to some lovely photos of brown recluse bites.

The brain itself can't feel pain. Our headaches come from the meninges, periosteum and the scalp.
