Well, it wasn't really a rejection line, but it left both me and my sister deeply scarred.

This guy we knew spent ages staring at my sister and me one day, and then announced thoughtfully:

"Isn't it weird how one of you got all the brains and one of you got all the beauty?"

Go figure which hurts most - being called ugly, or being called stupid.

It's a tough call.

You should have said "Isn't it weird how you have neither?"

Yes, I think that thought did occur to me as well - about three years later.

It could have been a lot worse. I think she was trying to be nice.

The "friend zone" is the worst you can get stuck in it and it can lead to very bad things, I college I was in the friend zone with this girl, she always led me on and had really attractive friend but never went out of her way to help me out, despite the fact I was a great friend, instead she slept with many different shady characters, which turned out very bad for me, I think she was trying to keep me in her back pocket or something,
In addition the friend zone can lead to feelings of inadequacy, stress and heartbreak. There are rare exceptions where "friend zone" can be beneficial but I have never seen in instance where it was positive and beneficial.

I havent read the entire thread, but im pretty sure this will be unique...

I once worked in a backpackers which was owned by a friend and became good friends with a nice aussie chick that was passing through, have long talks, have drinks (the backpackers had a bar attached, so we were there most nights), have a laugh etc

And then i asked her out for dinner, and i got this:

"We can hang out here (as inside the backpackers), but............."

Needless to say i didnt hang around to see how she was going to end it and try and sugar coat it when she had already made it clear with the opening part that outside the four walls i was worthless.

"I really like you but I need someone more pure of heart."
Oh, the joys of backwoods, guilt ridden, anti-individualist little towns...

The ones that can be recalled are from HS:

"You're an ass." {this one was before WP}

"It's not coincidence. Are you following me?"

"I will set my friends on you."

These came from the same girl, who I
pursued for four years.
