Do you have a collection? What do you collect? How many do you have? Are your collections excessive?

I had a collection of stuffed monkeys as a very youngchild that I was very obsessed with. I had to line them up in a circle and sit/stand in the middle of them and always needed to get more if I saw them. I would throw tantrums if I was not allowed to search a toy store for these monkeys or buy them if I found them etc, As an adult I've occasionally had collections but not continuously and my collections were not excessive (20-30 items not 200) but I think maybe the way I go about collecting is a bit abnormal (only thought of this recently),.Right now I'm collecting toy frogs and other frog things (to a lesser extent…. don't know why....I just think they're cute...frogs are not a special interest or anything……….I don't know anything about actual frogs). Whenever I see a toy store or dollar store I have to search every corner of it for the frogs and they have a particular place in my room (I get annoyed if anyone moves them).

I collect Kinks merchandise, lava lamps, records, CDs, DVDs and Routemasters.

I collect vintage lap steel guitars. I have six (soon to be seven). I am somewhat limited as these are not exactly cheap. I also collect old electronics books. I have a pretty large collection. I haven't counted recently but I would say its on the order of 300 or so.
I have a small comic book collection but its pretty much complete. (I collect only comics that I had or wanted as a kid).

aside from a collection of various aches and pains and dusts and disorders, i have a collection of several thousand phonograph recordings [LPs/45s/78s] occupying most of a spare room. plus boxes of CDs, cassettes and open-reel tapes as well, filling out the rest of the room stacked to the ceiling. another room has electronic equipment of various types, i am a sucker for a new [old] gizmo that can do this or that to the sound. i collect lots of free music online as well, to the tune of several thousand mp3s. much of my spare time is devoted to making all these recordings sound better, then transcribing them onto CDR.
i wish i were well-off sufficient to be able to collect used cars. i'd love to have a different car to drive each day of the month. i'd love that kind of variety.

I collect obsidian. I need a rock tumbler. I want to make them smooth.

I collect foreign language instructional books/dictionaries/grammars/reading materials, stuffed animals, and earrings.

I have wasted a lot of paper printing glossaries and grammars I've found on the web for really obscure languages that catch my fancy for a few hours but that I don't have the dedication to actually learn.

No, but I have a bunch of "Teach Yourself" books, which are actually pretty great!

By the way I did download quite a few old Department of Defense and/or Peace Corps language instruction booklets I found online for languages like Hausa. Sometimes they're the only resource I can find on a given language!

I collect DVDs. At the moment I have 55 of them. I would like to purchase more, but I feel as though I am running out of movies I want to buy.

I also have a growing collection of Alice in Wonderland stuff, including:
- curtains (which I made myself using special fabric I bought online)

I used to obsessively collect Re-Ment Miniatures but am currently selling my collection.

I collect I Love Lucy memorabilia. I started my collection in 2000, and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. My favorite collectibles are the series of Mattel dolls. The only one I had to buy on eBay (since it was retired by the time I started collecting) was the first doll, the Vitameatavegamin doll. But I've bought all of the rest when they came out. In fact, the candy factory/"Job Switching" doll was the first item in my collection.
