I'm in the UK and in the process of trying to find out if I have Aspergers or just tendencies as I'm sure many people have.
Three of my family probably have Aspergers (though only two are diagnosed)
I'm not sure how to get assessed yet. I definitely feel like some kind of alien but it could be just that I'm weird - I've been described that way as as well as called eccentric many times. Apparently I'm also over-precise, exacting and analytical though i don't think I am. I sometimes think everyone else is 'sloppy' and imprecise : ) I like people but not socialising but I kind of make myself do it. Oddly I do 'people work' as my job but I find it very stressful sometimes. I'm quite a technical person too and love the structures and patterns of things.

I am interested in Milton Erickson who in case anyone doesn't know was the founding father of hypnotherapy and a brilliant psychotherapist and who was considered (retrospectively) to be autistic with a brilliant skill for 'reading' people which kind of sounds not autistic in a way.

Forgot - I've already posted this below but I don't know if it will get seen. If anyone knows the best way to get assessed in the UK (an adult assessment) could you advise me please. Would prefer private if I can afford it. thank you

And thank you for the welcome :D

I do believe your first port of call should be the National Autistic Society (NAS). Give them a ring or email them if you don't feel comfortable with that. Here is their website. http://www.autism.org.uk/
By the way, what part of the UK are you from if you don't mind me asking?
