[I am a Rock]

 I had this on repeat for an entire day a few days ago. The thing is, it doesn't make me sad. Other people seem to think it's a horribly sad song though.

Jessica Andrews, "Who I Am." I remember hearing that song and thinking, boy she sure sounds a lot more confident and self-assured than I am at over twice her age. :)

I remember hearing that song on the radio and really enjoying it. I always wondered who sang it - and thanks to you, now I know! Thanks for posting!

Here's the song I nominate:

because of the way Jack tries to systematically understand the feelings of "Christmas time" , his preoccupation with it and how he he misinterprets what it means :D

This one has always worked for me even if it is drenched in big hair and cheesey 1980s antics. 8)

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned "How Soon Is Now?" by The Smiths, seeing as how nearly every thread about AS and music includes it.

(The graphics on this video are a little goofy, but there wasn't a better one on YouTube)

Maybe I'll move, and find a brand new place I don't belong
some friends I'll never know
New places I can't go
Cause everywhere I've been
Is on the outside lookin in...
