I wanted to know my blood type, so this year I bought a home blood type testing kit and I found out I'm O+

AB+

Which means I can accept donations of any type but my blood is poisonous to all recipients except AB+.

Changing blood type? The only way I could see this happening is if there's chimerism, where 1 individual is composed of at least 2 different cell groups. Suppose you've got two fraternal twin embryos and they fuse at a very early stage. Then you can get 1 individual composed of 2 groups of cells that have entirely different genes. Chimerism can also occur as the result of an organ transplant, where some of the marrow cells will be of the same genetic line as the transplanted organ, as is the case with the liver. At one point, the blood type may be from just one of the cell lines, but at another point the other cell line becomes active and the person may then have 2 blood types coexisting.

You forgot 0 negative! The "universal donor" (though actually not safe for 100% of potential recipients).

Read 80% of Native Americans have Type O blood.

My blood type is A negative; my main reason for knowing this is because I'm a blood donor

I'm O+

I probably wouldn't have known this if it wasn't for the fact that I'm an occasional blood doner.

I'm O- and it's not on the poll. I'm an occasional blood donor as well because this type is always in need. Occasional because sometimes they wouldn't let me be a donor because of my weight. If I lose some weight (involuntarily) I don't weigh enough

B-; its a really rare type, and I'm the only one in my family that has it (my dad is B+, my mom is O- and my sister O+), so a friend of the family and I who have the same type are emergency donors for eachother. :)

I've never heard of blood type changing, and I'm not even sure it's possible

This is funny. I was having a conversation about Blood types with my Japanese friend recently. She says that in Japan, there's a popular folk custom of typing people's character by blood type. They all know their blood there.

Quote:
Type A

People with blood type A have a deep-rooted strength that helps them stay calm in a crisis when everyone else is panicking. However, they tend to avoid confrontation, and feel very uncomfortable around people. A types are shy and sometimes withdrawn. They seek harmony and are very polite, but all the same feel that they never really fit in with others. A types are very responsible. If there is a job to be done, they prefer to take care of it themselves. These people crave success and are perfectionists. They are also very creative, and the most artistic of all the blood types, most likely because of their sensitivity.

Quote:
Type B

People with blood type B are the most practical of the blood groups. They are specialists in what they do. When they start a project, they spend extra time understanding and trying to follow directions than others might. When they are doing something, all of their attention is focused on it. They tend to stick to a goal and follow it through to the end, even if it seems impossible. They tend to be less than cooperative, as they like to follow their own rules and their own ideas. They are individualists. B type people pay attention to their thoughts a little more than their feelings, and therefore can sometimes seem cold and serious.

Quote:
Type O

People with blood type O people are outgoing, energetic and social. They are the most flexible of the blood types. They easily start up projects but often have trouble following through because they give up easily. They are flighty and not too dependable. O types always say what's on their mind. They value the opinion of others and like to be the center of attention. Also, people with O blood are extremely self-confident.

Quote:
Type AB

People with blood type AB are hard to categorize. They can have characteristics on both ends of the spectrum at the same time. For instance, they are both shy and outgoing. They easily switch from one opposite to another. AB people are trustworthy and responsible, but can't handle it when too much is asked of them. They don't mind doing favors or helping out, as long as its on their own conditions. People with this blood type are interested in art and metaphysics.

I think I'm B+
You would think maybe I should know given how often I've had blood taken

I'm O negative (which wasn't mentioned in the poll for some reason), and this is the complete and utter opposite of me. Couldn't be more opposite.
