Based on my user name, people might imagine I'm Russian but, as far as I know, I have no Russian ancestry. There are a lot of German people in Russia, however. My interest in Greece may also explain my interest in the Balkans (Serbia, Croatia). My Mediterranean heritage could explain my interest in Spain. Two of my favorite tennis players are Spaniards, one is Japanese and one is Russian.

British back to at least the late 1600s on dad's side, British / Irish / Welsh on my mother's side but much of her immediate family was raised in California and across North America. My DNA test also showed some Iberian Peninsula (8%), and Scandinavian (5%).

I was hoping for a surprise: like that we are Jamaican or Aboriginal or Russian Tsars. No go. :(

The name Isabella sounds Spanish. It's a very nice name.

Thank you. I do have some extended family (mother's side) in Argentina and Spain. Her side is huge, whereas dad's side is entirely gone now except for my brother and myself. Don't forget though, Isabella isn't my real name

Argentina and Spain are two of my special interest countries. I have favorite tennis players from both countries, but my interest long predated my interest in tennis.

It is interesting to research the ancestry of my favorite players:

Roger Federer-German, French and Dutch South African
Rafael Nadal-Spanish/Catalan
Kei Nishikori-Japanese
Denis Istomin-Russian, raised in UzbekistanJuan Martin del Potro-Argentinean of Spanish and Italian heritage

I love ancestry and genealogy. It's one of my 'mini' special interests that I get obsessed with for about 18 hours a day, 10 weeks a year. Then POOF! The feeling stops for another year. I have all sorts of documents and notes but I get overwhelmed trying to amass it all.
