Would it be hard for both NT and an Aspie?

If an aspie was told by the doctor "Sorry you have a very agressive terminal illness and you only have 2 weeks untill you die"

Would this be equally hard to deal with for an NT than it would be for an aspie?

I know NTs find some things easier than people with AS but i wonder if NT people can develop better coping mechanisims for these type of things? NTs can go through life on 'auto pilot'

It would all depend on the person and their personality, NT or AS. Everyone's experience in life is different. Our experiences are a big part of who we are and how we handle lifes challenges. I don't think AS necessarily confers any special ability here except maybe for some with specific cognitive challenges.

I think it would be hard for anyone in their right mind to deal with. Perhaps NTs would be more likely to try and make light of the situation than we would though, generally speaking.

What do you mean by make light of the situation?

I personally think an NT would try and live his last 2 weeks on earth too the fullest whereas an Aspie would probably just want to get it over with and kill himself since we do worry about things more than NTs etc........ i know i'd try and kill myself straight away instread of having to wait too die.

If it was because of an illness you probably wouldn't be able to live life to the fullest.

I'd want to try, at least to the fullest possible.

Oh yes. It would be difficult for anyone hearing something as dire as that.

Some people with cancer still go out and get as much out of life that they possibly can. Some still try to work. Elizabeth Sladen was still acting in The Sarah Jane Adventures.
Strange though, my dad didn't do that. Maybe it is because like me he wasn't really that adventurous. He went overseas for a reason, not to just explore. I'm like that. I need a really good reason to go and still not go.

I'd probably just give up. Not give up but roll over I suppose. Oh great, another thing wrong with me that is actually going to kill me. I've had such severe symptoms that I do just want to give up sometimes. My body has been in severe pain. I have become paranoid. I have lost higher mental functioning (or just about that). I've been through so much that something like a terminal illness would just make me give up.

Depressing to think about but it's the truth.

Well, they might do something they always wanted to do in life but couldn't afford or didn't have the time for. Most of them would try to see the positives, despite the dire situation. Us Aspies are less likely to do that.

No positives in dying

Trying to seek positives, however small, in the midst of something very negative is a natural coping strategy associated with death - whether that's if you're the one with the terminal illness or whether it's the family around you. No, there is nothing positive about death, but if you've got two weeks left to live, are you really telling me that you wouldn't make the most of it?

I would want to get it over with as quickly as possible becuase the not knowing what happens after you die scares the hell out of me.
