Just something I noticed about myself and another probable Aspie I know - we both seem to have trouble avoiding laughing out loud at our own thoughts, even when in public. So I was wondering how common it might be among Aspies?

Humor is how I deal with pretty much everything, including internally.

I've had people look at me like I'm nuts because I laugh a lot when there's nothing they can see/hear to laugh AT.

I do that as well. I have been known to startle people in my house when I start laughing at what seems to them to be nothing. Apparently I cannot help myself sometimes.

I thought it said infernal at first.

Yeah, I find the contents of my brain amusing at times.

I had to train myself a lot for avoid that. In past i smiled and laughted a lot, even when i was sad, worried or annoyed.
Today this happens rarely (but somethimes i smile without notice).

I've always laughed at my own thoughts, even while out in public. My own thoughts are highly amusing to me. People sometimes look at me strangely when I do it, but that doesn't bother me.

Yeah, I can crack myself up. Sometimes I'll attempt an explanation but sometimes it took quite a feat of mental gymnastics to get from what sparked to thought to how I made it funny. Lots of times I just duck my head and clap a hand over my mouth so people know I'm not laughing specifically at them. People who know me just ignore it unless I'm laughing uncontrollably. They'll demand the full backstory then because they want in on the joke. Observational humor seems to be a strength of mine.

It's so annoying when I think of something funny and then everyone asks what it is. I've never seen anyone laugh for seemingly no reason before, it's always just me.

I spend at lot of internal time laughing.

And I've been caught doing this at work, and I once felt that I had to say something, so I said I was thinking of something funny. It was OOOOk. or alrighty then.

Someone once felt the need to hen peck me, and called me an "introvert" from there on. I remember it was said in a way as if an " introvert" was something to look down on, as in he's one of them.

Likely this is E.D as my thoughts bounce around like a monkey jumping through the trees. I can think of something humorous and the very next thing I'm playing back an airplane ride in eidetic fashion, watching the spoilers, slats, flaps deploy on landing, all with the turbo- fan whine.
These are random jumps on an eternal loop that I easily slip into, probably stemming from the lack of inhibitions that arise from this.

I tend to misread words, replacing them with something that makes the meaning funny, Like a 'comedy dyslexia' (not meaning to offend dyslexics of course, just only seems to happen when the misreading makes the meaning absurd). Easily makes me laugh but I don't care if others hear it. I'd rather hear someone giggle than having a sweary rant (or be responsible for said output!) :D
