There are many threads asking about whether that person is an Aspie or not. There is a thread called "You might be an Aspie if...", but it's certainly quite time consuming to sift through it and see whether all of them apply. I think it's easier to perhaps find things and characteristics that disqualify someone from being an Aspie. I realize that every Aspie is an individual, and that the diagnostic criteria are not set in stone, but there must be some things that disqualify someone from being an Aspie. To take into account this ambiguity, write it in this format:

Characteristic which is un-Aspie - Disqualifying Factor: x%

where if x = 100, it totally disqualifies someone from being an Aspie, and if x=0 it doesn't disqualify someone at all.

You are not an aspie if you are a cow.

You are not an aspie if you are dead.

You are not an Aspie if you can pass a Turing Test.

I disagree with both of these. I believe there exist dead aspie cows.

If you look at the way we diagnose autism, it should become clear that we don't really know what we're talking about. It could be one condition, a number of similar conditions, etc. There could be a central thing to it, but many different things that contribute to that or come out of that, presumably depending on what for everyone is a unique non-additive interaction of genetics and environment.

So if we don't what it is, how can we say what people with autism can't have? We can't. Unless you go down the route that Wavefreak has wisely gone down.

We would need Wirt's leg to determine this ...

You're not an Aspie if you feel completely normal and accepted among the humans.

You're not an aspie if:

you have, from the age of 3 onwards, been able to easily read facial expressions, tone of voice, and body language without conscious effort.

do facebook friends count? I've added several and have about 50 facebook friends so I can continue playing my games(I don't care as long as they can send me stuff for my games) nor do I really do anything but play my game and avoid people.

I think this comment wins. (You could change the phrasing to "other humans" if you want to rule out any quibbling about it.)

I disagree. Feeling accepted has nothing to do with having Asperger's. It's merely a subjective state of mind and not dependent on whether you are actually different.
