I long ago decided that that case was hopeless. If friends can deal with my blunt honesty, then fine, I'm happy to have them as a friend. I'm not putting on an act all the time just for them though. I've told some of my friends.

Honesty is more important, because then if people do decide they like you, its because you are you and not anything false.

It is convenient to me that being honest also means you can be well liked. I enjoy being well liked a lot. But i'm even more happy that I got there by being honest.

Part of it is that in order to be well liked you don't need to be dishonest, you just need to be creative. If you are creative you can uplift peoples spirts, compliment them, and entertain them without disparaging others and still tell the truth.
