who knows what a "great" youtube clip may be. there is no accounting for taste.

anyway, here are 2 performances of the same song (dixie). the 1st is liberace who arranges his version with much imagination, and he plays it impeccably.

the 2nd is by a woman who was born in trinidad with extreme gifts. i can not work out which is the better performance because they both excel in their own ways.

which one is the better performance? please tell me. in my own mind it may be the woman's performance that is slightly more complicated and daring, but the womans performance was also less tight. here. can you tell me who does the best version? (there is a vastly distracting siren sound in the atwell clip)

I'm not musically trained, but I think that both performances are excellent and that the selection of either one as the "best" will depend on the criteria you apply. Liberace's performance is extremely polished and technically proficient. However, I personally find Winifred Atwell's version more enjoyable because it has more life and seems to capture the feeling of the music more effectively.
