That's something I've heard lately from others. Passionate and intense, as descriptions of my personality. I guess it's true, as I am very opinionated and vocal about it. I say what I think, and if I like something I really like it.

I guess so. I am extremely opinionated, but I'm not vocal about it because I try to respect other people's opinions.

I'm pretty intense, if someone told me they worked with the IMF I'd tell them that if hell exists that's where they're going.

Well, I try to be respectful of others and considerate of their feelings. I'm not saying I'm always successful, but I do try.

Nope, not the kind of intensity/passion that's detectable in my everyday interactions and people are willing to comment on (My mom said that she was amazed by my perseverance when I was younger.). However, when I do get a topic/idea/action stuck on my mind, I typically pursue it with much intensity.

I'm told that I'm a very passionate and intense person. I'm passionate about my special interests and intense regarding my beliefs, my loyalty towards my mother, and my emotions in general.

Passionate.
Obsessed.
There's more to life than 'insert current special interest.'

That word makes me cringe. I hate it.

If I ruled the world there would be severe punishments for using the P word.

It sure doesn't feel that way for me!

This. I also try. Still, it happens from time to time that I'm passionate, mostly before my family and my closest friend. Occasionally, they enjoy the situation, seemingly I lose my temper quite nicely... Well, it can be bad too.

I can be opinionated, but usually I try to avoid being vocal about it, because I've noticed people tend to disagree with me mostly, and I wouldn't like to be more off in their eyes from where I already am.

Is it really that bad of a personality trait? One of my pet peeves are people that seem to never have an opinion of their own. they deliberately stay neutral and noncommittal, so they can stay in everyone's good graces. To get involved in a cause, and to commit, and be dedicated seems to be a positive things, IMO. I like people that are willing to be their own person and voice their opinion when they believe strongly in something. (though, this does better when tempered with respect, but that goes without saying)

I rarely lose my temper, and when I do it's more of a meltdown situation than just a discussion gone awry. It's more like I think what I think and am blunt about it. I say what I think, and apparently even when I am trying very hard to be polite, I am told I come off as harsh and rude. I am very quiet and reserved in most situations. You'd probably not even ever hear me speak at all in large groups. It's rare that I do.

For example, I am very passionate about human and animal rights. If I see a child, animal. or vulnerable person being harmed I am very vocal about it, even if it gets me into trouble, or fired. I see it as my ethical duty to do something, and not worry about myself first. I feel if more people were like that the world would be a kinder place.

I don't understand anything you just said or how it relates to what I said.

I just don't like the P word. That is all. It is used all the time in management and HR psychobabble along with:

Blue sky thinking
Leverage
Paradigm shifts
Roll out
Joining up the dots
etc, etc, etc

I hear it so often now it really grates.

As far as I know, not a bit. People think I'm cold and indifferent. I don't think I'm cold. I'm probably as warm as any average people but I don't express as much. I rarely have strong opinions about things, though. I always feel like I'm not well informed enough to have strong opinions.
