I'm a 16 year old dude, but I do get upset quite easily about certain things (animal abuse, bad things happening in the world etc) nearly to the point of crying, I just thought i'd ask, guys and girls, do you find yourself more sensitive than most? I certainly do, and it can be annoying >____>

I do get quite easily upset about these things at times, sometimes to the point of crying or to the point of nearly crying and feeling like crying but not being able to :? At other times I'm not really so fazed but I do have times when everything can affect me quite strongly. So you're not the only one, I'm also pretty sensitive at times.

I don't know...there are some areas I'm more sensitive than others.
With your examples, no, I do not get upset easily with that, but I can get upset with things that actually involve me. More easily than other people? I'm not sure.

I cry when people are nasty to me, or hurt my feelings.

Honestly no.

I could also point out that most people tend to get upset to some degree or another at the things you've mentioned, though crying or not can just be a symptom of how upset they are, or whether the person has trained themselves not to do it or not, IMHO.

I could suggest looking up "HSP", or Highly Sensitive Person. HSP is a Condition in which people are more sensitive to *most* things, both physically and emotionally. I forget all the details, but supposedly its created by having too much Cortisol running around your brain at some point in your life (Cant remember if its when you were younger, or when you're feeling sensitive, youd have to go read up about it). Cortisol is the Brain Chemical responsible for the Fight or Flight reaction in people, and has the effect of making one, you guessed it, hyper sensitive in w/e situation they're in.

I do, yes, over both the state of the world and things I worry about in my own life.

I seem to have a hard time keeping it together in public sometimes. Yet another plus for wearing aviators anytime I have to leave the house. :)

I can't remember ever having cried because I was sad. Come to think of it, I cannot remember being sad ever at all. It has been at least 15 years since I cried the last time at all. I cried out of pain, frustration, and most prominently by far, anger. But never because I was sad. I always imagined that there had to be Aspies who where the other way around, and I think it is just generally connected to having just strong emotional responses, even to smalles of triggers. I really wish I could cry again, but I just can't. I'm serious about that.

Yes!

I'm quick to feelings of hurt, anxiety and hopelessness, all of which are key causes of tears with me.

I do cry when I'm sad. The only relative of mine that has died was one of my grandads, but I wasn't close to him and I was only little when he died. Otherwise, I've never had any other relatives die yet, so I don't quite know what it's like. But I do know that when a relative dies, I will cry and cry and not stop for days. I just know it. I cried when my cat died. I cried when one of my nans was diagnosed with Alzheimer's (and I cry now if I think about her before she had the disease). I also have tears when I put music on what reminds me of good days from my childhood (like when I was 9 and 10).

Strangely, I seem to cry at happy endings in films. Is that normal?

I cry very easily. I'm very sensitive. I didn't make up my rank for nothing. I really am a sensitive brown-eyed member. It doesn't bother me. I find that a lot of people are hardened by the world and they can't cry.

I don't cry very often. But how many 17 year old males do? Sometimes when I get stuff stuck in my throat or after I yawn my eyes get watery to the point of crying, but that doesn't count.

I consider myself to be sensitive, but not to the point of crying. I'm not that sensitive. Maybe it would be better to say that I'm easily disturbed.

I cry when I mad, or sad...sometimes inappropriately, & other times not at all when most would. A few examples: Things that can always make me cry is seeing any kind of abuse especially when it's an animal or a child since they can't control the situation. If I'm mad, I cry out of frustration because I can't get the right words out or fight back. When my mom was dying, I didn't cry much at all. She'd outlived pretty much everyone in her family, & had made it to 90 year old. Her next oldest surviving sibling only made it to 83. Mom was also pretty mean to me & it's just really hard to be sad for someone who dies who has never liked you. My only hope for her is that she's at peace.

It's quite normal for men not to cry. I don't know many men who cry, especially not in front of people.

I'm a guy but I'm not really that afraid of looking unmanly in front of people. When I'm upset, it does show on my face. I'm definately not a macho guy, I can't help but show my feelings :/

I think I do cry more often but I'm good at concealing it. I don't want people to know when I'm upset.

i cry when i'm happy more than i do when i'm sad. sometimes i'll see something very sweet or beautiful and it moves me to the point of tears. i am easily affected by the sadness of others though even in books or movies. it seems i cry for fictional people more than i do for real ones.
