well ok, if thats the case why didn't they bring him in for those charges instead? they acted like He was the killer. and btw those charges in california are misdominer so more than likely he'll just get a slap on the wrist or something. the cops have f****d up this investigation from day one. they are totally incompitant, and don't know how to do there jobs. they could have ruled him out as a suspect overseas, but they jumped the gun. and the media only made it worse. if they were bringing him on charges in california fine, bring him in on those charges. not charges of him of crimes in colorado.

look im not trying to defend this guy or anything and i think hes a complete fa***t but common, the cops should have known that all kinds of wierdos were gonna come out of the woodwork, especially in a high profile case. its very unprofessional and sloppy on there part, i expect the media to be unprofessional not law enforcement.

Hmm I had a completely different read on the whole thing from over here.

We heard nothing about him until he fessed up to killing JonBenet - and then the media went to town because the whole JonBenet pageant thing is so unnatural. It's a wonder they haven't gone after other kids that do those pageants. Hey look - freak show - over here.

But we heard that he fessed up to killing JB AFTER he was picked up in Thailand as part of the Extradition process for some other crime which seemed a lot more serious than misdemeanor.

And because he confessed - that made extraditing him a lot easer for law enforcement so they probably went a long with that, the Thai courts would have rubber stamped the extradition and it would not be in John Mark Karr's interests to face charges in Thailand. The police knew early on that the confession was probably a pile of crap - even before they got the DNA back there was good evidence that he was too far away at the time to have done the murder where it was and he didn't know crucial crime scene details either. It was just convenient for the Thai courts maybe. I don't even know if they did use the confession.

I never heard that crimes related to paedophilia could result in a slap on the wrist. And the media loves this story because everyone finds the details so bizzare and fascinating.

well here's the prof hes facing 5 misdemenor child porn charges.

http://www.montereyherald.com/mld/montereyherald/news/politics/15392459.htm

and the reason they nabbed him in tailand wasn't because of other charges other than him sending emails to some professor telling him he killed that little girl. thats all they went on.
wich makes the police look like bafoons.

And the reason they brought him back so fast is becuse someone thought they had some big break though in the case and were going to be famous get movie deals ect. All that for not realy checking things out it does make them look stupid and like media hounds

Exactly. The DA should be fired, and the chief investigators, on the case should also be fired. i mean i knew this guy was a lier and just wanted the attention the moment i saw him. what a freak. its a sad day when money talks louder than the law. the media has always been like that though brah, there fear mongers, and all they do is jump from one horrific story to the next. wich is why i rarely watch the news unless its local.

Shortly after he was named by the media as the little girl's murderer, the DA and police force was cautioning that it was quite probably not him. If you look, the majority of the articles have at least one statement from the police and/or DA cautioning not to jump to conclusions. They have to check out every lead though, and he would have been brought back to the US anyway because of the other charges. If anything, it was the media's fault. They blew it completely out of proportion. The DA and police force were just doing their jobs. If they had just let him go without conclusive proof to undermine his confession they would have been in a world of trouble.

well if i was the DA i'd go on more than just emails and a "confession" from someone. but your right in the end its good he got picked up, everyone in colorado needs to be fired still. i wouldn't want to live there. no one obviously knows how to do good police work there
