I suppose this is more temperament than autism, but if a bug is randomly walking along the carpet, I can't just squish it. Basically, if it's minding it's own business, I can't see fit to interrupt its little bug mind with a big fat foot.

Now if that bug is doing something that interferes with something I'm doing? It had better scurry. So with ants getting into my kitchen or a spider crawling on my arm - something bad is going to happen.

I had honey bees living in an exterior wall for a few years because I couldn't bring myself to exterminate them. Ultimately, I think they succumbed to Colony Collapse Disorder because they disappeared.

Anyway, just a random thing ...

Live and let live... when the bugs get out of control, I just let our toad out to do his thing. No guilt, no chemical, no cost extermination.

I can't kill insects. Not even when I'm afraid of them. I have a phobia of spiders, but I still can't kill them - even though I absolutely HATE them.

I love moths and butterflies so much, and I cry if one gets killed. Once I saw a moth caught in a cobweb, and there was a massive spider at the other side of the cobweb, and I didn't care how much I'm afraid of spiders - I just had to save this moth, so I quickly caught it and let it fly to freedom.

For me, it depends on the type of bug & what it's doing. If it's poisonous, it meets a swift demise....same for insects that carry disease or considered just nasty to be around...cockroaches & flies never get spared, ever. If it's a "good" bug, even if it's weird looking, it can stay....preferably outside though. Same with ants, if they want to live, they need to stay out of my house. I can tolerate the odd spider living in or around my house unless it's toxic. Spiders don't bother me, not even if they're crawling on me. I will flick them off, but I don't freak.

I really don't like squishing them though...that just grosses me out. Even the mere thought of it. LOL

I usually won't kill a bug if I don't have to.

If I do, I'm all POW about it, and they don't know what hit them. I don't want moths eating my clothes, and I don't want ants swarming my house. Roaches must die on sight. I guess I'm not as nice as you guys.

I'll squash 'em, but I don't like it. :eew: I hate the mere thought of the sound & visual. Blech! It's gross, no 2 ways about it.

I don't squash bugs. I pick them up and take them outside.

I used to kill them when I was younger, but now I just move them outside without harming them, I'd be a little bit upset if I hurt them.

Tomboy

This.

I squash them wrapped in a paper tissue. It is mercy, I hate to cause pain even to a bug. To tell the truth, I used to be much worse as a kid. A female friend of mine convinced me to spare their life if I can, so in some cases I only put them out of the window carefully and let them live.

I'll just ignore tiny bugs. Anything big enough to be seen across the room generally gets carried outside on a piece of paper. Mosquitoes get squashed, if I can catch them.
