Did you go to this tea party rally to see this?
What exactly was on the signs?
Out of the entire rally, how many of these signs were displayed?
Do you think that the tea party can keep people from attending rallies?
Do you really think the the tea party wants those signs OR the people holding them in their rallies?

That's what the news is for.

If Obama was white, allegedly born in, say, Belarus, and had some foreign Soviet communism sounding name, along with a similarly shady and opaque past, do you really think the same "birthers" wouldn't be asking the same questions?

In a word: NO.

That's not what you said before, you said:

Kraichgauer wrote:
I can't believe birthers are motivated by anything other than racism. And yes, I will paint the whole bunch of them with that brush.

Followed by:

Kraichgauer wrote:
Really? Are you seriously suggesting that there are birthers who aren't motivated by - if not racism - then by blind hatred of the President?

Which sees you (slightly) backing off the "they're all racists, every one!" stand you'd previously taken, but is hypocritical coming from a partisan such as yourself.

Now, you're down to "well, there's racists among them, you can't deny that!", which no one, me especially, is denying, but is not the same thing as your original contention.

Perhaps you should take a page from Memento and tape Polaroids of your previous posts to your monitor, as you seem to forget what you actually said as soon as you hit the submit button.

What I said was, if they weren't motivated by racism, then it's by blind hatred. I challenge you to prove they aren't moved to try unseating this President with these baseless and absurd claims.

Uh huh, so what exactly did YOU see on the news pertaining to the above?
Even then, simply watching the news doesn't answer the last two questions.

Your birhters obsession aside, I can't begin to guess where your fanatical obsession with racism comes from.
Honestly, most people of color I know and have ever known don't have this obsession or at least not to your level.

I think MissLizard has provided some excellent examples of such racist signs.
And obsessed with racism, am I? Well, I'm an Aspie - - I'm entitled to be obsessed with one subject or another.

This one strikes me as being a parody of a tea bagger to draw discredit to the tea party. The"Im a teabagger" thing at the bottom of the sign kind of tells me that.

Image

With the rest, I see nothing tying them to the tea party and I see nothing of the tea party endorsing racism.

Your problems with the tea party are:
-They are conservative or libertarian in their core values
- They don't like Obama
- They are mostly white

A tea party leader in fact had been disgraced publicly not many years ago when he wrote a letter for blacks to Abraham Lincoln, saying they wanted to be returned to slavery, so they could be taken care of, and have no responsibilities. And no, I don't recall his name. But I'm sure he wasn't the only one.

Shame on him IF he actually did that and it's not just some leftist slander, which wouldn't surprise me.
More on this later......maybe.

Oh, it's much more than leftist slander, because his own tea party brethren turned on him after he became too much of a political liability because of the racist filth he wrote. He was forced to resign his position.

Well, in that case it looks like the Tea Party as an organization rejects racism, which is what I suspected all along.
It kinda shoots down you and your cronies clamoring about the Tea Party having only a racist agenda.

Perhaps. Or maybe they acted to avert a public relations disaster almost caused by this idiot. Remember, he was one of their glorious leaders, and I sincerely doubt he didn't attain that position without his followers knowing his actual beliefs.

Actually, you could get a TOS for calling a troll a troll like I have.
I guess that could be attributed to partisan moderating so you'll have nothing to worry about. :)

TOS?

In response to this incident, there were plenty of Tea Party affiliated people who spoke out in defense of Williams. Most shouting about freedom of speech and/or taking things out of context and usaing it as leftist propaganda. Here is the copy/paste of Mark Williams' post in its entirety, for those of you who do not like to click on links. Decide for yourself.

Quote:
NAACP Resolution: Colored People change minds about emancipation

Astonishing.

In every one of the dozens of interviews that I have done regarding the anti-Tea Party resolution passed by the NAACP I have brought up the absurdity of a group that calls blacks "Colored People" hurling charges of racism. Whats more, each interviewer has defended that phrase and expressed surprise that I would consider that phrase to be racist!

Apparently Colored People are an entirely new race of people and one to which the title applies. Here NAACP President Precious Ben Jealous explains to President Abraham Lincoln the reasons for the resolution in this newly discovered letter :

Dear Mr. Lincoln

We Colored People have taken a vote and decided that we don't cotton to that whole emancipation thing. Freedom means having to work for real, think for ourselves, and take consequences along with the rewards. That is just far too much to ask of us Colored People and we demand that it stop!

In fact we held a big meeting and took a vote in Kansas City this week. We voted to condemn a political revival of that old abolitionist spirit called the 'tea party movement'.

The tea party position to "end the bailouts" for example is just silly. Bailouts are just big money welfare and isn't that what we want all Coloreds to strive for? What kind of racist would want to end big money welfare? What they need to do is start handing the bail outs directly to us coloreds! Of course, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is the only responsible party that should be granted the right to disperse the funds.

And the ridiculous idea of "reduce[ing] the size and intrusiveness of government." What kind of massa would ever not want to control my life? As Coloreds we must have somebody care for us otherwise we would be on our own, have to think for ourselves and make decisions!

The racist tea parties also demand that the government "stop the out of control spending." Again, they directly target Colored People. That means we Colored People would have to compete for jobs like everybody else and that is just not right.

Perhaps the most racist point of all in the tea parties is their demand that government "stop raising our taxes." That is outrageous! How will we Colored People ever get a wide screen TV in every room if non-coloreds get to keep what they earn? Totally racist! The tea party expects coloreds to be productive members of society?

Mr. Lincoln, you were the greatest racist ever. We had a great gig. Three squares, room and board, all our decisions made by the massa in the house. Please repeal the 13th and 14th Amendments and let us get back to where we belong.

Sincerely

Precious Ben Jealous, Tom's Nephew National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Head Colored Person

Some other elevant things about Mark Williams relevant to this:

When talking about the proposed Islamic cultural center in NYC he said: "The monument would consist of a Mosque for the worship of the terrorists' monkey-god." After much flak for that comment, he later said: "I owe an apology to millions of Hindus who worship Lord Hanuman, an actual Monkey God. Hanuman is worshiped as a symbol of perseverance, strength, and devotion ... Those are hardly the traits of whatever the Hell it is that terrorists worship." The Washington Post later interviewed him about his comments about Islam and Obama, and he said: the controversy has "been fantastic for the movement".

He is the author of the commercially successful books "It's Not Right Versus Left, It's Right Versus Wrong; Exposing the Socialist Agenda" and "Taking Back America One Tea Party at a Time."

Prior to his ouster from the Tea Party Express (thanks to the bad letter to Lincoln press), Mark Williams was considered to be one of the most prominent figures in the Tea Party movement. IMO, using him as representative of the Tea Party as a whole is pretty far fetched. He does demonstrate how easily extreme racists can easily blend into the movement, though.

On a side note, Tea Party Express was founded by GOP political consulting firm Russo Marsh and Rogers via their super PAC. As of 2011, more than 75% of the money spent by the PAC went to Russo, Marsh or King Media Group (which has close ties to Russo) as reported to the Federal Election Commission in their required filings. I always find a PAC where huge profits are made by the founders to be highly suspicious in anything they say.
