The majority of people whom I tell about my having Asperger's Syndrome, their reaction is...

"...What's asparagus...?" (as in the vegetable)

This makes me Laugh!! !! !

What do people say when you tell them about your Asperger's?

"Isn't that a kind of [mild] autism?"

Usually they say: "You can't have it because..." and then some kind of vague reason why I could not have it.

All the people replying seem to be missing the point!

If people said something like that to me, they'd be getting a knuckle sandwitch. I don't tell people I have Asperger's, I tell them I have autism and if they are like "But you don't look autistic!" I ask them what an autistic person is supposed to look like and that usualy shuts them up. That usualy shuts them up. I usualy only tell people I am close too that I am autistic or when singing the praises of bearded dragons.

I never tell people I have Asperger's because technically I am not because I had a speech delay and a dely in self help skills. If someone wants to go on and on until the cows come home about how I am not autistic or not autistic anymore, that's their problem not mine.

Getting back to the OP's point...

I've heard it referred to as Assburger's and the idea that something such as this can be compared to the eating of a buttocks between a bun somewhat amuses me.

So be grateful you heard it as that rather than how I mentioned.

Other people (ie. A friend, my mother, ect) tell other people might have it. They usually respond, "Ah, I thought so."

My wife calls it asparagus syndrome. But she does that kind of word game with a lot of things. It's funny at times. Sometimes it's just silly.

The people I have told have not said anything bad. They have asked questions, and they did not pronounce it wrong.

I don't tell them, mostly because of teasing. I am aware of being autistic but my peers are not. They think I am crazy.

I got Asparagus Syndrome response. You name it I received it in a response to telling others about it.

I get 'ass burger' most of the time... ignorance is bliss.
