It seems to me that many Aspies are very nocturnal. Why is that so? Is it even true? Or is it just a trend in the general population?

I am mostly nocturnal, but I don't think it's because I'm an aspie. Most people my age, NT or not, are nocturnal to some extent.

A few rezones. Better shows on TV(like on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim) at night. I get to avoid my parents more that way; me & my mom fight sometimes & I'm not always able to go in the kitchen when I want during the day because my mom's doing stuff in there & there isn't any room to eat. Plus the longest job I had was working overnight

Could it be that one is most likely to be left alone at night and there is seemingly less distraction (street noise, PEOPLE noise )?
This seems to appeal to NTs and Aspies alike. Big chunks of undisturbed time are a luxury for many people nowadays.

Oh - summer nights have quite a magic of their own, :star: :star: :star: ....

I for my part would love to be more nocturnal, but it is not very practical.

Is not related to autism as is not related to 'NTism'
I've read that behind this there is another thing.
In nature, Humans go to sleep circa at 2 AM. Human is naturally a nocturnal creature. In modern life human wake up at 6 AM and go to sleep at 11 PM because of light. For avoid to use electricity. But we still have our biological clock and evolution didn't changed it. I tend to stay up until 1 AM.

This have been studied on humans that still live in forests and they have observed that they go to sleep very late.

I have a rare sleep disorder that causes me to have a 27 hour day, which means I go asleep and get up three hours later every day/night.

People with delayed sleep phase disorder are true nocturnals.

Bingo.

Plus the temperature drops and the sun goes away, which is nice for those of us who are heat and light sensitive.

Plus, everything just looks better at night.

Pretty much what everyone already said. I love the night, everything is more quiet and peaceful. But I live with my Grandma so she forces me to stay up during the day, I'm not sure why but she's annoying as f**k. Because of that, I get about 10-20 hours of sleep a week.

I like both night and day, but I would be nocturnal if I had the choice.

I go to bed between 1:30 and 4:30 AM every day. I wake up between 11 AM - 2 PM. I like nighttime better because it's peaceful and quiet, and I don't get interrupted when engaging in my hobbies and special interests. I once tried to become completely nocturnal, but it didn't pan out because I was much too exhausted to run errands during the day. It's a shame that most of the world operates on a "sunrise to sundown" basis instead of the other way around.

If I don't discipline myself into conforming to a normal sleep/wake schedule I fall into a cycle of 26-27 hours. I have to say, the times between midnight and dawn are often my most productive. I don't think it's affected by Asperger's, I have many NT acquaintances who are similarly nocturnal. I would probably be less nocturnal if I had less contact with other people during daytime, would anyone else agree?

I have always stayed up late (since infancy, according to my parents). I think my sleep cycle is set forward because I sleep best in the late morning and I get the 3:00 slump that people talk about well after 6:00 P.M. If I go to sleep around 4:00 A.M. and sleep until 10:00, I feel the most rested. However, that is not practical for me, so I've been going to sleep around 12:00 A.M. and getting up around 5:00. If I go to bed that early, I feel like I need twice as much sleep to compensate, but I just don't have the extra time right now. In the winter, I can sleep longer. I guess it's because of the shorter days and more regular schedule.

There's at least one other person who has that disorder on Wrong Planet (I forget what it's called).

I have strange sleep cycles that shift around over time, although not the way yours does. I am frequently nocturnal but when I start going to bed after 7-8 am I try to rein things back a bit.

At night my brain explodes with millions of ideas, random thoughts and much restlessness. I find between 7:30-9pm are good times to write. Though I was up til midnight writing the same synopsis over and over again.
Although, it being winter and all and there being loads of shows that I love on sci-fi, I have been rugging up under a blanket in front of the TV with the gas heater on.
I like the night time when I'm on my own but when I'm out with friends I tire easily. And I will without fail fall asleep around 1 or 2am.

I think I have something like this. Woke up around 7:30am yesterday but today I woke up at 5:45am. I have periods of waking up really early in the morning despite falling asleep at 2am (I don't really know because I stop looking at the clock after midnight), or waking up around 7 or 8am. I plan every morning to get up at 8am but it just doesn't happen. Even with the stomach pains I've been having.
