I thought gifted and savant were two different things and I still think so.

I realize now everyone is PC or else we all be as*holes. I think saying things in a nice way and still being honest is PC or keeping things to ourselves. Even this forum is PC or else there be no rules against personal attacks or anything. So that is why I say everyone is PC to an extent but I think it's getting out of control. How PC can we all get?

savant is not a derogatory term, it means literally 'knowing'..
gifted as a pc equivalent for savant syndrome perhaps..

I think political correctness sorta holds us back from saying controversial things that could help society.

Everybody is politically correct with some expressions and not with others. Most people try not to offend other people, but with some social groups (like bankers), they don't care if they offend.

Personally, I would rather be called a savant than gifted (although I'm neither). "Gifted" sounds too euphemistic, like "special".
