Thanks for the replies, I've read them and they were helpful but I decided to repost in the members only board as I think there was perhaps too much personal information in my post and I don't know how to delete it here so can a mod please close this?
Thanks.

It can be important; it depends.
I had no desire to get an actual diagnosis until I had issues at work related to my ADHD/Aspergers. I did feel some relief to have my self diagnosis confirmed.

I took a few online tests and all of them said the same thing none are 100% diagnosis but for me it was enough to confirm what I already knew:

Thanks for the fast reply!
I have done similar tests online and they all say I have asperger's, I'll check out the ones you posted but I think I know what to expect.

Also, I have seen that there's a members only part in this forum...Could it be possible for a mod to perhaps move this topic to there? I think there's a lot of personal info in my post and I don't like getting recognized online lol.

For me I wanted most to understand the constraints I am working under so that I can better figure ways to work around them. I do not accept that Aspergers is a curse/etc and believe that when channeled appropriately it can help me do things most others cannot. That said I can't work around everything... just what is important.

I pursued a formal diagnosis despite the fact that I essentially already knew because I wanted verification. I do not like leaving things up to chance.

I wanted to have a concrete answer from someone trained to recognize the signs that explained my gifts and limitations. My family thought this would make me angry, because I might look back and think, "Would things have been better if I had pursued a diagnosis earlier?" But nothing could be further from what I feel now. I have a reason. None of what I know is the result of a bunch of converging coincidences that sometimes seemed like bad luck or a freakish talent, but part of me being on the spectrum.

I hope this helps.

It would be good to have a diagnosis if you run into trouble with school/jobs getting kicked out or fired because of ASD related issues. Or if you are having such a difficult time you need SRS or Social Security. Also, if you need medication, seeing a DR and getting a diagnosis would benefit you.
