Is it normal for an aspie to "see" (like in "imagining a picture") of something that is heard or said?

What I mean is, I have no musical education. I don't know how to read or write notes. Yet whenever I hear polyphonic music (like renaissance/classical music) I can "see" the musical notes as they are layered on each other and I am able to insert them in FL Studio's piano roll.

Is this because of my Aspergers Syndrome?

If so, how come people claim this is a disease? I don't see it as a disease!

Don't know if it's the same, but my brain works like a visualizer when I'm listening to music. Sometimes it can be hyper-realistic with characters, events, and plots (usually involving lots of explosions, mechs, futuristic tech, etc. lol) all interacting in a way that's choreographed to the music, but still makes sense. Other times it's just abstract colors and patterns that move and change also in accordance to the music.

I don't see it, but I can follow each instrument. I don't know many who can do this.

Yes, I mentally "see" music. Obviously I don't LITERALLY see it...

Probably not the same thing, but I can visualize myself playing the music and imagining how awesome it is :D

Music always puts vivid imagery in my mind. As far as music theory goes, I know only some very basic things. But I do often "see" notes, chords, scales, etc. in strange symbolic ways when I listen to them, along with other imagery that fits in with what a song is about, or what type of mood the music invokes.

I can physically feel it too. I can't see notes of music but sometimes I see colors.

songs have color schemes to me.

Picking songs while deejays is similiar to picking colors off a palette when I paint pictures- employs the same asthetic instinct.

I do no think "it is normal for an Aspie to see music". I think being an Aspie is like being an X-Men, everybody has a different power. I watched a TV program about an Aspie who could perform complex mathematical operations. He received the answer in his head. He watched the numbers (the answer to the mathematics problem) in his head. Each number had a different shape and color. You can see music... Other Aspies have different powers, or not.

Asperger's is not a disease. It is a syndrome. Different things.

To me, music sparks off hundreds of ideas for videos/scenes of films that could accompany the music.

I mean 2001: A Space Odyssey wouldn't be as beautiful without the classical music acting in the background would it? (In my opinion.)

For example, in a scene similarly structured to this:

I could imagine "The National Anthem" by Radiohead playing as the said protagonist plows through 'the bad guys' in a narrow white-lit corridor.

I can't see music. I feel it, and visualize things in my mind to it, but I can't see it in real life.
