I'll bet some of the ladies here have some good ones.

Here's my latest rejection just to start things off:

Hello! You sure are both funny and witty, too bad your photos don't show your height, or any sight of the planetary system mentioned in your profile. But please don't take it the wrong way.

Looking at our answers to questions there seems to be a lot of conflict, and your profile doesn't give me much idea of what crossover there might be in our interests.

But, given this is a pretty limited form of human interaction it mightn't be true.

What do _you_ think?

and one of the funniest.

I came across this video clip the other day of a woman using an online dating service. It has to be the funniest one ever:

That's hilarious, but I'm pretty sure it's satire...

These are nothing. I had a hard time getting ones that were not adult in content though.

Usually guys who can't spell and "hi".

I'd rather get dick pics and insults than those messages.

Here's one I got on OkCupid. There was no 'Hi, my name is ...' or anything like that. This was the entire message.

Here's a little way of saying: "Good Morning."

Good mourning says the gravedigger to his flock
as the dead begin to walk
shambling out of their nightly dreams
into the sunlights piercing beams
stabbing the earthly streets
the dead squeeze their hearts to shuffling beats
all in hope that they may find
a little peace for their rotting mind
you can see them walking here and there
but until they have their coffee try not to stare.

I'd said in my profile that I like writing, so I think that's why he went this route. It was more creative than a "Hi, u r cute" message, but still a little odd. And, until I got to the last line and realized it was about hangovers or something, it was a little unsettling and making me think that if I'd ever meet the guy, I'd end up in his trunk or dumped in a lake.

As an English major, don't bother messaging me if you can't write out you, are, for, see, or be. I can understand using u, r, 4, c, or b in text message where you are limited in characters. But in a message or email, make the effort to sound like you have at least a minimal education if you want to meet me.

I only tried online dating once, but gave it up after being cyber-stalked by a 21-year-old.

NOT an English major, but it still gives me a bad impression - whenever someone writes like that they come across as borderline illiterate to me - I type everything, even proper punctuation, when I text - even though it takes much longer to type...
