I'll start:

I plan on attending an LGBT festival, scheduled for August 6th.

The festival is one hour south of Portland,
and both Greyhound and Amtrak have very good fares.

So, I'm not sure if I should take a bus or train to the festival.

Sounds most excellent! In general I recommend trains.

I went to my first Gay Pride parade last September and didn't really enjoy it. However, I actually might consider going again later this year, only this time I'll go with different people and hopefully get a better location at the event than last year.

I changed my mind. I'm not going to the festival.

In Portland, there have been three bias crimes
against LGBT people in three months.

I'll probably skip Pride this year.

I'll have friends over for a barbecue instead. :)

I really like the word Queer. I mean the sound of it, not just the "meaning". It sounds so perfectly violent.

Portland, Oregon? Wow, that is really surprising and dismaying. Of all places I really would think that kind of thing would not occur in Portland.

^^
Yeah, I'm serious.

Only some arrests have been made in the
crime that occured in June.

The Mayor of Portland is working with the
LGBT community to put an end to hate-oriented crimes in Portland.
