When you was a child, did you ever do this with your toys?

(This is mostly for those of you who was diagnosed in childhood)

If you had a selection of toys like action figures, teddies, et cetera, did you ever make one of them have AS, and the rest be NTs and ''social''? I got a little obsessed with this sort of thing for a while, especially when I was between 9 and 13. I had Pokemon figures (since Pokemon was all the rage when I was 9), and I pretended one of them had AS and so was anxious and didn't like to join in, whilst all the rest were playing with eachother and getting along (no, I didn't play battles with them).

I don't know if other Aspies done this when playing with toys, but I used to.

I had never heard of AS til I was at least 15, so no.

I did make all the dolls vain and image-obsessed and the stuffed animals all loving and accepting.

I didn't play much with toys, or really have many. I did have a boy cabbage patch doll that I liked, because it was a boy. I am transgendered, and obviously have always been, so I would pretend it was the "boy me". So I suppose it is similar, with focusing on a main life issue in play.

The rare times I did play with my Barbies, she was the bully to my animal toys. The animals would eventualy overpower her and either banish her or kill her and take over the house. All the animals got along with each other. There were some animals that didn't get along in the beginning but they eventualy learned how to be friends. Humans were always the "bad" ones in my role plays. In my Lion King fan fics, the animals (even Scar) are always 100% innocent and it's always the humans who are evil. The only human who isn't is when I write myself into the stories but I never come across as a saint and I am quite nasty to the other humans until they go away.

It’s funny, I had lots of toys, but I don’t remember actually playing with them. I just wanted to collect them and have them around. Even at that young age, role playing with little plastic figures seemed too silly for me.

No.. I learned of AS at 29.

But I did notice after the fact that when I played my characters in MMO's they were all rather communicative/chatty but the way I played was more solo. Aka I would chat and joke with others in the guild/group I was in but when it came to doing activities together I wouldn't engage in them.

Weird huh?

I was diagnosed as an adult, but I still wouldn't have done this. I never played with toys like that.

I was too busy playing with them creating new scenarios involving my Star Wars, flash Gordon, Blackhole, Buck Rogers, Battle Star Galactica, and Star Trek action figures. The flash gorden figures were used as aliens, the other non-star wars figures were all types of characters. I was extremely creative as a child.

I didn't do that because I didn't know that I was on the spectrum until I was 15.

I made GI joe kick Ken in the nuts. Barbie had just been sacked from her job and her daughter was kidnapped by ninjas.
Then my sister banned me from playing with her Barbie toys.

Play like that is really common when kids are working through something difficult. I used to make my Barbie dolls get divorced (as my parents had done).

No, this sort of "playing" was nothing like what I would do.

I didn't know about AS as a child.
Anyway, I think my toys were all autistic. Even on the rare occasions when I did treat them as people and not objects, they never interacted with each other.

Yeah didn't do much playing either unless "forced" by other kids. I took blissful delight in lining them all up or arranging them on the floor or shelves in different patterns according to color/shape/size though, aesthetically pleasing tableaux. I like their presences also and thought about their personalities but didn't have them interacting unless I played w my sister in which case we were both annoyed at what prisses our little plastic McDonald's Barbie replicas were being.

No. I didn't know about AS then. Instead I imitated real life behavior I would see and have my Barbie dolls do it too. I used to do child abuse too and also imitated things I see on TV. Then when I was older, it was playing house. Have Barbie take care of Kelly. I used to have her and Ken be the parents. Back when I was five, I used to play with them the same way in the doll house. Sit in the living room first, go to the dining room and sit at the table and eat. Go upstairs and sit in the library and read. Go to the bedroom and look in the mirror and then sit down and do her hair. I pretty much played with my toys and my brothers the same way. as I got older I got spontaneous. Sometimes I have my Stacie doll be Angelica and the the other dolls be the babies. I had all these little dolls that were small children and they looked like babies. In fact I also had all my dolls do NT things like chit chat and all play together. I also used to have to get them all put in their pajamas and put them to bed or else I wouldn't go to bed. I also used to take them with me everywhere I went.
