i've been told by many men, "you act just like a girl!" and undoubtedly that is what many women think of me as well.

“Acting like a girl” leads to the idea that all women and all men have to act/look a certain way to be women or men. It is a ludicrous and outdated idea.

but a remarkably durable/embedded one. it's not going away anytime soon. likely there must be an evolution of humanity into a version 2 or later, to escape this cognitive limitation.

Infamous scene.
On acting like a man.
Godather (1972)
Marlon Brando.
Based on true story, supposedly.
Some 50's singer.
Not Sinatra...
But similar.
I forget the name.
In Pocket of Cosa Nostra.
Sinatra would actually play mafia clubs for free.
He was obliged.
If he didn't want to lose an eye.
Like Sammy.

I agree with you. One can hope that will be the case.

I should watch this. It’s a classic I haven’t seen, just like I haven’t seen The Matrix.

I concur. My bigoted uncles tell me (whenever they "visit") that I don't act like a "real man" just because I didn't enlist for the US Armed Forces immediately after graduating high school in 2008.

As I've mentioned many times before here on Wrong Planet, both uncles believe the spectrum isn't real, that the only way for a man to "man up" (spectrum and NT alike) is to enlist in the US Armed Forces and that the only one for a woman to truly be happy is to settle down before doing anything else.

Take the toxic masculinity out of Italian culture? what have you got left?
Well, it's a movie about organized crime gangs...
It's about mafia.
A male brotherhood.
Sociopath to the core.
It's going to be toxic.
All i know is stereotypes.
Sopranos. e.g.
Italians are known to embody 'machismo.'

Auntie's review nails the movie.

There is some "tribalism" based on the Pacino character dating/marrying the non-Italian girlfriend. What's the right word, it's not racism, or is it? The same with the Duval lawyer character.

I always thought Brando sucked but he surprised me as Vito.

Toxic masculinity is a difficult one. In my opinion, some people go too far with the concept & include good things about masculinity & deem them toxic, even when they aren't.
