Could also be that guys have the "post-breakup haircut" phenomena in mind when they see women with new short haircuts? The phenomena where women feel the urge to cut off and/or drastically change their hair after a bad breakup. So maybe guys see your hair and assume you're only just out of a bad relationship and not..quite..ready enough to date again.

I know the phenomena mightn't be real and might only happen some of the time, but it applied to me twice (cut my hair short in 2005 after breaking up with my first BF, and again last year after my third BF finally disappeared off the scene).

I haven't heard of that phenomenon but I have heard of women going crazy or getting mad & shaving their head due to emotional/mental problems so perhaps some may subconsciously think it was shaved a while back

What you perceive as 'traditional' may be more 'instinctive'. Long hair is a sign of good health. Healthy women produce more babies. Healthy men are better providers. Our evolved DNA may provide an instinctive attraction to people with long hair.

... maybe not...

Well I don't word things well. I kind of also mean instinctive. I'm not a guy so I really don't know. I know for me men of all hair lengths look good but then again it all depends like you say on health and hygiene. Attraction in my opinion is much more complicated and not always as general as we presume. I happen to find effeminate guys attractive. Some men dig women with tattoos and some men hate them. I just assume it's all a matter of taste and other aspects that make attraction in general complicated.

I too kind of find effeminate guys attractive. I don't mean tits or anything, but when they're skinny, and put thought into their appearance, and enjoy things like dancing or acting or fashion, I like it... A lot. :P

The romantic unavailability thing seems so strange to me. I am far from unavailable. XD I don't see how it could convey that. :S

I dunno either, but for some reason it just does.

You look great with short hair, BTW. I'd hit on you...

I think the tall and lanky look of the seventies on guys is attractive.

Yeah, I like tall and lanky. :D Not sure about the hair styles back then, though. I like hair with a bit of body up front, and sideburns that cut off at the bottom on the ear.

Your hair doesn't seem super short and the length it's at works for you.
But to answer your question as a guy myself seeing super short hair on certain women seems more masculine but for some women such as Natalie portman or Emma Watson
They rock the short hair look

Reasons? So far the ones I've heard are really ridiculous. Such as a woman who has short hair shows she's as lazy as a guy who refuses to get a job. What the hell?

I cut mine very short today, so I was just wondering.

I love short hair on women. Sometimes even completely baldness. One has to have a good skull shape for that though.

Short hair is sexy.

No, I noticed on my Facebook, the majority of people who liked my picture were women. The VAST majority. And I researched it and all these men had these passionate posts on forums or blogs about how short hair kills boners, practically.

I find short hair quite attractive on some women - especially Asian women.

You look nice with short hair too

All the more reason to keep my hair short. :)

Not a guy but a (very likely) gay woman.

But I LOVE short hair. It's one of the things I find seriously attractive.

Always wanted to get in myself, for about five years now, but never dared.
