My sisters dog, didn't make it.

I loved that dog, french bulldog and he was so cute but yeah I guess he died, and my sister and her husband are very sad about it.

My sister's dog didn't make it either.

The sweetest, most gentle natured boxer you could ever meet - but she was pushing fourteen years old and showing all the signs of extreme old age (for a boxer).

Although not in pain she was very often confused, was incontinent, physically weakening and rapidly losing muscle due to a declining interest in eating - she would only occasionally take food by hand.

Even then she would come over and patiently lean against my leg like she'd always done, waiting for an ear rub. She never went further than that - no pushing, no shoving, no demanding and when she saw me arriving she'd do this cute little dance, hopping from foot to foot.

RIP Sally, my little twinkle-toes, RIP.

Sorry to those who have lost dog friends.

I grew up with boxers Magz and I know how sweet they can be, one of the best breed for dog hugs imo. Still miss my childhood boxer.

My border collie keeps reminding me that she's getting old too :(

ITYM "Cornflake".

She still has another, "Tammy", who I'm especially close to so her passing will be a very difficult time.
As a toddler I was petrified by dogs, screaming tantrum -style petrified - but now I'd be lost without the close bond and love of a dog. We understand each other perfectly.

Here's a picture I made of her as a pup:

Sorry for the misnomer  Dunno why I thought I was replying to Magz.

That painting you did looks so much like my own dog I had when I was 8. We had a brindle boxer and had pups from her. Two came out 'red' and we kept one of those - she was my dog. She was the silliest, soppiest dog. Miss her a lot. Glad there's another available to you.

I'm considering getting another soon, I like to have 2 and my Westie checked out a year or so ago. This house needs a pup around to keep it lively.

Sally was a brindle, as were her two predecessors (litter sisters, but unrelated to Sally) Sophie and Bella - but Tammy was a beautiful light red-rust, darkening a little to a reddish-brown as she aged.
She's always been "my best mate", practically from the day we met.

My sister's always had boxers - there are at least three others pre-dating Sophie and Bella, including a Mk. 1 version of Tammy.

She recently re-homed two elderly dogs from the local kennels - a Bichon Frise and some kind of Dachshund mix. They're hilarious little characters and settled in immediately.

It's said that a home isn't complete without a dog - or preferably, two.
Yep, that makes perfect sense.

I love it when animals choose me. Our red boxer was theoretically the family dog but she chose me and it was soon clear to everyone that this was my dog. The collie I have now is like that too.

But this is the unhappy thread so less lovely dog talk now.

Sorry Sweetleaf I just read back in the thread.

I'm so sorry about your sister's dog, and the kitty you lost previously, and everyone who has suffered from the loss of a beloved pet. I can't imagine going through it at least four more times in my future but the love of an animal is worth all the pain they someday cause.

Hugs to everyone. Beautiful picture, CF.

Been trying to buy a car off this lady on Facebook marketplace and she's been dicking me around for days and finally just messaged me to say she's not selling it any more.

I hate buying cars.

And I hate Facebook marketplace because there used to be good specialised websites for buying and selling stuff then Facebook moves in with its half-arsed marketplace platform and now that's all anybody uses.
