I'm not gonna post a link. Look it up at your own peril. It's disturbing as hell, so don't do it at work, or in the wrong company.

You can youtube it- somebody uploaded it in 9 videos, each about ten minutes. It sounds long, but it goes by fast. I just watched it, and it lived up to its description of being the most violent movie ever made.

It's this documentary about what goes on in slaughter houses, and also the waking nightmare that animals go through at the behest of human interest. If you've seen it, what was your reaction? I don't want to move this to the adult section, so don't go into detail about what you saw. If you want to PM me, I'll tell you the parts that were extremely upsetting and hard to watch, and you can share your reaction in depth.

Again, you really can't watch something like this lightly, so be ready when you look for it.

if it has anything to do with animal abuse or torture, I'm not interested.

I'd just make sure my meat is sourced from decent places. Not all slaughter houses are like the shock factor videos that PETA and friends make.

Before I begin I do not want this to turn it a discussion of whether being vegan is a bad thing or a good thing.

I went into watching this and I was already vegan for ethical reasons and I actually regret watching it. This is because I already knew about many of these practices and I didn't learn anything new. That being said it is a good film and very educational. I would say that people need to be prepared before watching it as it is quite shocking and repulsive.

Temple Grandin kicked off her career designing more humane means of slaughtering animals for food.

Does my personal decision to boycott meat offend you?

Life is consumption, period. Every breath, every step, every second.. consumption, conversion, alteration of environment (though minuscule, relatively speaking). Do not consume, do not live. Animals are simply relatively and comparatively closer to ourselves (in appearance, function, etc), and as such, easier to convince people of the "unethical" nature of consuming them, and/or some will anthropomorphize to some extent, thus making consumption of said animal more difficult to endure psychologically. I simply approach it pragmatically, and with respect. What that "movie" shows is humans being disrespectful, most likely out of simple greed.. possibly for some, a sadistic neurotype "exercising." I would no sooner rip a tree from the ground than I would mistreat an animal. But, consume I must.

Oh- and bugs bite me, so they get whacked. Sometimes with a tear in my eye, and a, "Forgive me PETA!" echoing in my head.
