I'd like to share with you all my portraits of people. I recently did a short art course. I've framed some of them and mounted them on my walls.

I think the first one is your strongest.

I like portraits too ;) Been at it for a few years now. —> http://fatal-noogie.deviantart.com/gallery/6681382 <—
I'd be happy to exchange artistic tips & techniques if you're interested.

You know, you should do a self-portrait in that style an use it as you icon/avatar.
Not many members have self-portrait icons, but I always find it classy when they do. (mine is, lol)

I love Joseph Ducreux's spin on self portraits. :D

If you want a tip from me, when you're painting forget about technique and focus on emotion. Keep chanting in your mind whatever theme or feeling you wish to convey in your painting. If you want your subject to look angry, keep repeating as you paint, "Angry, angry, angry."

I'll do that. I like some of your paintings. "me and 2 friends, all drunk" would look great hanged up in a public place. Can imagine it would make people feel good if it was on the wall in a bar.

I hadn't heard of him but looked him up. Very amusing! :)

Making them?

I have 3 self-portraits of myself (2 of them were assignments for a class though  )

But it is fun! :P

My friends don't live at the emotional extremes so I don't try to depict them that way.
I'll keep that advice in mind the next time I paint a friend who's unequivocally angry.
Better yet, next time I find a friend who's unequivocally angry . . . I just won't be their friend anymore.

I've been doing some surrealism sketching lately, so I might use that as an excuse to try emotional extremes.

To be honest, I was more interested in hearing what you thought of my portraits. :)

Ok, then when I am less-actively posting, I'll look at them. :)

Only if they aren't portraits of people.

Also on the subjects of portrait artists, I like Ren Xiong.
His style is trippy (but it's a little hard to see when the photo is so bright).
