Oh that line (not the right wing part, but the justifying selfishness onwards) reminds me of a lady, who said to me, 'Girl, you're your OWN charity.' She told me to stop giving unless it was tax deductible (but they were specific individuals in need, not an organization).
She was the same lady who slandered me a year later.
I still don't understand the concept of tax deductible nor do I want to... how is it charity if you're benefiting from it monetarily in some way, later on?

it is not my considered opinion, that the lady you dealt with, is a sociopath.
